Re: The Walking Dead
Aye Nath - a cracking S5 premiere. I reckon they've used a big chunk of the season budget already.
- Spoiler:
- Rick, Glenn, Daryl & Bob are the last 4 of 8 getting whacked with a bat over a trough and having their throats slit. As Glenn is about to have his throat cleared, a blast goes off. It's zombie disguised Carol (who has left Tyreese with Judith and a captive Terminus Cleatus back in a shack). She's holed a gas tank & lit up the escaping vapour with a skyrocket, sending Terminus-attracting walker bits everywhere.
The Terminus brethren have to now shoot down a massive hoard of flaming zombies, which the 4 members of the A-team use as cover to get the rest of our valiant heroes out of the container. Carl knew his Dad would return.
Hero Carol has an encounter with one of the original Terminus folk, from back when it was a good place, but it got overrun by thugs who turned it into a raping & human body part BBQing & eating mecca. But Carol is hard these days, so shoots her & leaves her alive to be chowed down on by zombies.
Back at the shack, Cleatus escapes his ties & threatens to snap Judith's neck unless T backs out to walkers now surrounding the place. But outside, T silently takes out half a dozen zombies then bursts back in & beats Cleatus to death.
The container family have now got back out over the Terminus fence, & dig up their stash. Carol shyly sneaks up on them. Daryl sees her & gets a serious hillbilly woody for his main squeeze. All is forgiven between Rick & Carol.
They all go back to the shack where it's happy days. Now they are back on the road, or rails.
Some choice prosthetic & SFX work with plenty of gruesome arms, legs & head blow offs, & lots of close up chomping on screaming wounded hoomans. Grouse.
And no sign of Beth.

Re: The Walking Dead
Aww Yissss - that's a season opener.
The actress has finally been upgraded to series regular. Which is a double bluff and she's a goner this season, I reckons.
- Spoiler:
- Rambo Carol was a bit of a lark but the whole episode rollocked along breathlessly.
In the cold light of day, the mind-numbingly laboured trek to Terminus that encompassed the entire second half of last season seems ever more pointless as they've wrapped it up in one episode.
But it was a doozy of an episode. Eugene's still hilariously full of shit.
Back to the f*cking train tracks we go...
no sign of Beth

if memory serves me, they wrapped it up just as fast in the comic as well.

- I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing Gareth and co again. We didn't see them die, so they'll pop up again at some stage 'Governor' style.

Re: The Walking Dead
- Spoiler:
- I really enjoyed that episode, but then, I enjoyed all of series four in a 'suspenseful, zombie safari' kind of way. Some of the characters have grown so much from the beginning, which is why it's easier to look at the Terminus people and understand why they've gone full Darth Vader like they have. It was pretty obvious from the end of last series that they were going to be into some dark, cut 'em and eat 'em, type of thing.
One thing I don't get is, who fired the first shots at Terminus that set the course of events? Carol came in later and blew up all the crap, but there's obviously something else going on? I enjoyed Rick going full on badass - again - as they burst their way out of Terminus. Everybody did their job, but it annoys me that only Rick seems to have learned the lesson - that you've got to kill your enemies while you've got your chance!
He was absolutely right, once they'd escaped, to suggest that they go back in and kill them all. Yeah, fair enough, they escaped, and it's not like with The Governor where he knew they were staying at the prison. But you don't go around making enemies and letting your enemies live, whether there's zombies swarming on their compound or not. If they'd been sensible, they would have finished the job. No cat and mouse bullshit then.
That guy talking to Tyrese was bang on with what he said, you've got to kill when you've got the chance. I'd offer no money on that guy still being alive. And, judging by the massive convoy that the group had become by the end of the episode, I'd suggest that there's a serious cull of the group coming up over the course of this series. There's about a million of them at the minute. Beth will still survive though. Sasha will go first.

Re: The Walking Dead
- Spoiler:
Tyrese said that he'd killed the bloke. From the seems of it, he did it with bare punches - didn't want to use the knife for some reason. Maybe the fact that this dude was going to snap the baby's neck made him want to go 'old skool' on him. Suffice to say, the T-Bomb said the bloke was done and dusted

- Take him at his word, for the love of God. Why would he lie? He's not a monster.
In all seriousness, yeah, we didn't see the body, so we don't know. After an 8 episode plot to get to somewhere only to have that crumble in one episode, I don't know WTF goes on anymore in terms of the plot. I reckon the mass culling is right, so it could be the Terminus retards coming back with a vengeance.
Glad it's back on, there's been a wilderness of dogshit on t'telleh recent.

- I don't really understand why he wouldn't kill him, especially considering the guy was prepared to kill a little baby for no reason other than self-preservation. Perhaps Tyrese killed him so badly that he ended up looking like Oberyn Martell and he didn't want other people to see that, I dunno? I don't think it's necessary to the plot that the guy is still alive. It might be that the Terminus guys stumble across his body, then find the tracks of a gazillion people leading away from that sight, and use the battered body as something to rally around in hunting Rick and Co. down. They really ought to just follow Rick's gameplan in future, he's the guy who's psycho enough to get things done without being full on cannibal psycho. Yet.

- Yeah, I'm wondering whether the fact Rick wanted to waste them all and it didn't happen is part of the plot later on - it's got to be. If that dude had got Martelled, that's a pretty normal occurrence for TWD - even 6 year olds wouldn't blink an eye.

- Spoiler:
- The baseball bat and slitting throat scene that opened the episode was in flash forward i.e. it happened before Carol zombied up and hit Terminus. As Glenn's throat was about to be cut, the propane tank exploded (that was the blast everyone at the trough heard) thanks to Carol's skyrocket, which saved Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Bob by blowing everyone in the slaughter house off their feet. So after the opening blood trough scene, the episode went back 30 minutes to Carol and Tyreese and the Cleatus shack scene, leading up to Carol's Terminus attack.

Re: The Walking Dead
S05E02 - Pretty good.
- Spoiler:
- The A-team comes across a screaming black reverend stuck on a rock. After the crew dispatches the surrounding walkers, the Rev takes them to his church and then to town to the food bank. They have to jump into the flooded basement and battle slimy zombies to get the remaining canned food. The Rev freaks out when a bespectacled walker-wader (I'm guessing his former lover) slimes towards him.
Back at the church Carl finds "You'll burn for this" scratched into an outside wall of the church.
That night they have a hearty feast and plenty of communion wine. Rick tells the Rev he doesn't know what he's hiding but if it hurts his family he will kill him.
Carol and Daryl have done reconnaissance on a car they found earlier and get it started. Just then another car speeds by - it's the car that Daryl saw Beth being abducted in back in late S4. He and Carol jump in and chase.
Inexplicably Bob goes outside the church in the dark for a cry of momentary relief after the feast. It's no surprise when he gets whacked. He wakes up to a sermon about survival from Gareth and the remainder of the Terminus crew. Bob realises they have hacked off his left leg and BBQed it!!! Gareth compliments him on how good he tastes!!

Re: The Walking Dead
- Spoiler:
- Quite a good, slow-burning episode, I thought. Tension built without a lot of on-screen mayhem. The reverend probably did something cowardly like put others in harm's way in order to save his own life. He doesn't look an out and out baddie. Just someone who feels guilty about what he did in the past.
And isn't it amazing how quickly Gareth and co were able to dust themselves off and track Rick and his group. Rick was right- Should have made sure they were all dead. The others talked him into making sure season five has a storyline. Oh, and I assume Daryl and Carol find Beth in the next episode. Joy for everyone.....

Re: The Walking Dead
Hmmm.
- Spoiler:
- Interesting enough episode, and then it all went a bit cartoonish at the end. Gareth's pantomime villain, chewing on Bob's leg and complementing him on his succulence was a bit silly and rather undermined the shock value the scene was shooting for.
I think I noticed the guy Tyreese "killed" last week as well, when Bob was drifting back into consciousness.
Poor the Bob. At least he got to cop off with Sasha before he bought the farm. Vale, Bob. We'll miss you just sort of hanging around in the background looking zen. And that one time you were a raging alcoholic and that filled a few minutes in an episode.

And came back in S3 for a stand alone episode "Clear" in which he'd gone a bit nutso.
Re: The Walking Dead
- Spoiler:
- Oh look, the group decided to have a little unexplained stop in the middle of nowhere and nothingness so soon after escaping the freaky, inbred cannibal weirdos. Oh look, Tyrese didn't kill the guy. Oh look, the cannibals have found them already and now the game begins.
I like this show and all but the deus ex machina in the first two episodes of this series has been irritating as hell. These guys have lived in a zombie-infested world of psychos and animals for a year-ish and only Rick and Carol have changed enough to actually be believable survivors. The rest of them are just fluff, they wouldn't survive the first 24 hours of zombocalypse.
Fair enough they want these weirdos to be the antagonists in this series. Just do it better.
