Maybe getting rid of whiny Rick is a good thing. No-nonsense Daryl might liven things up.

No-nonsense? How would anyone know?

Daryl hasn't done anything but grunt for about four seasons now. If he was being paid by the word, he'd be as homeless as he looks.

Maggie confirmed leaving after 6 episodes too. Michonne's contract is up in the air (and the actress is now a bone fide movie star in the Marvel universe). Morgan has joined the spin-off show (which has been ruined, incidentally).

Truly retarded. But hugely predictable once the showrunner left to be taken over by Scott Gimple, ruiner of the main series.

I mean, FTWD was toast once they decided to completely write off the previous three seasons by having a big time jump in order to accommodate a Walking Dead crossover "event", which was particularly underwhelming.

Only one of the original cast has made it to the halfway mark of season 4. In spite of them being far more competent than their TWD counterparts. I mean, Travis f*ckng bare-knuckled his way through a pit of walkers a few episodes before he was inexplicably shot by a stray bullet while minding his own business on a helicopter ride.

The saddest part about Madison is how rubbish they had to write her this season in order to somehow make it plausible that someone so dispassionately ruthless could find themselves in such a ridiculously stupid, fatal scenario. The Madison of the previous three seasons would've mown down the "vultures" before they'd even completed their moustache-twirling villainous speech upon arrival.

S09E01.

Spoiler:
The A-team is leading the building of a new democracy.

They make Washington DC and visit the Library of Congress to collect seeds and farming implements to grow crops.

Ken, a young Hilltop member, is killed when the returning group are attacked by a horde of walkers. Maggie is gutted.

Daryl is not happy at Sanctuary and wants to return to Hilltop to visit Maggie. Carol offers to take over. There seems to be rising unrest amongst the former Saviours.

Gregory agitates Ken's grieving father to take revenge on Maggie. Maggie survives the drunk Dad's attempt on her life - all was orchestrated by Gregory.

Hard-nosed Maggie executes Gregory by hanging him.

S09E02. As Mr Dog alludes, a bit slow.

Spoiler:
The episode is a recounting by Rick to the imprisoned Negan.

Unrest and tension is rife in the group rebuilding the bridge. Several of the Saviours in the crew have left and did not make it back to Sanctuary. A group delivering food to Sanctuary from Hilltop also went missing.

Maggie is turned around on Earl (who tried to kill her) after listening to his story about drinking. Her Dad Hershel was also a drinker but got a 2nd chance.

After a walker horde diversion siren fails, a lumber group lead by Daryl is attacked by zombies. A log rolls on Aaron and pins him. The main construction group, lead by Rick, arrives to save them from the horde. Enid (Dr Siddiq had to go elsewhere but has been training her) has to amputate Aaron's badly crushed arm.

Daryl blames Saviours troublemaker Justin for the siren failure and beats him up. Rick banishes Justin from the group. He is attacked by someone he knows on the way back to Sanctuary.

Ezekiel and Carol get engaged after she has a change of heart about his earlier proposal.

Rick tells Negan they are building a new future. Negan says Rick's just keeping his seat warm for his return as leader.

Re: The Walking Dead

Post by skully on Mon 29 Oct 2018, 09:44

I've been away up the coast for a couple of weeks so am a couple of eps behind. Watched Ep S09E03 tonight.

Spoiler:
Dickhead Saviour Justin has been attacked and zombified. Someone is picking off Saviours left, right and centre.

Rick confronts Daryl but it's not him. Daryl is still not behind Rick's crusade to have everyone get along.

Maggie and Cyndie find a zombie-filled shack and almost get caught by the escaping horde. They wonder why Arat (a Saviour) and Bea (Oceansider) didn't respond. They find Bea but no sign of Arat.

Maggie and Daryl find another downed Saviour. Daryl pulls a bolt from its chest and says he knows who took Arat.

The Saviours suspect Jaydis. She is gutted that she's a suspect and disappear back to Garbage Town and gets on a hidden walkie talkie. She contacts the chopper pilot (that has been seen a couple of times overhead in recent eps), who says the only way she'll get out is by delivering an "A". Not sure which group that is. Rev Gabe has followed her and says he has to tell Rick what she's up to. She knocks him out and says "And I thought you might be a "B."???

Rick and Carol get jumped by a couple of Saviours, with one threatening to slit Carol's throat. Carol puts a dagger in him, but spares him.

Daryl and Maggie finally find Arat. She is on her knees begging at the hands of Cyndie, Bea and other Oceansiders. They are the ones that have been bumping off Saviours. The Oceansiders have been taking systematic revenge on all the Saviours that murdered their people. Turns out Arat shot Cyndie's 11 year old little brother. Maggie and Daryl turn their backs and let Cyndie kill Arat.

The bridge-building Saviours all leave to go back to Sanctuary. Rick's Utopia is falling apart. The bridge is not finished.

Maggie tells Daryl that they tried Rick's way, but now it's time to see Negan.

Re: The Walking Dead

Post by skully on Tue 30 Oct 2018, 09:46

S09E04.

Spoiler:
Ep opens with a montage of Michonne alternatively being good "wife and Mum" and charter writer then getting up at night to slay herself some zombies. She gets careless and almost gets jumped before grabbing a baseball bat and splattering the walker. She seems disgusted by the bat, in a nod to Negan.

Maggie heads off the Alexandria on horseback on a mission.

The camp is disintegrating with the Saviours leaving and Carol talking about taking the Kingdom folk back to their fort. Rick worries that things are falling apart.

Rick gets word of Maggie's ride to Alexandria and relays a message that she is not to be let in. However the relay girl does not pass the message onto Alexandria, wanting Maggie to do what she wants. Looks like Maggie may be going to top Negan (who is on a hunger strike).

Rick and Daryl head apparently to Alexandria on the bike. But Daryl deliberately misses the turn-off. Rick jumps off and they have a wrestle with Daryl telling Rick "this time it's gonna go how it was supposed to". But they fall down a hole and are trapped.

Michonne confronts Negan, demanding he end his strike. He wants to talk. He tries to get into her head with talk of her late son Andre. She storms out.

In the hole Daryl makes it clear that many people want Negan dead, and Rick keeping him alive is working against people's faith in Rick as a leader.

Anne/Jaydis has Rev tied up. She says he's her ticket out. She is ready to let a captive zombie chomp on him but she relents. Then she knocks him out.

The Saviours lead by Jed have returned with guns to confront the main group to extract revenge on Oceansiders. A gun battle breaks out. In the hole, Rick and Daryl say it will draw two large herds of walkers.

Negan has got into Michonne's head and she returns to him. Turns out he is desperate to see his beloved bat Lucille. When Michonne denies him he begins headbutting the wall.

Walkers begin falling in the hole. Daryl piles up the bodies to follow Rick up out of the hole. Rick slips but Rick is able to save him and drag him out. A horse shows up and Rick tells Daryl that he staying to lead the horde away from the camp.

Rev comes to, but Jaydis is gone.

As Rick is leading one horde away, he confronts another in his path. The horse rears up and throws him onto some projecting re-bar, and he is impaled. The ep ends with him stuck with two large hordes approaching his screams.

Re: The Walking Dead

Post by skully on Mon 05 Nov 2018, 11:54

Yeah Nath.

S09E05.

Spoiler:
Rick drags himself off the re-bar just as the herd descends on him. As he slowly escapes on his nearby horse he has a series of injury-induced hallucinations. He is seeking his family in the afterlife but gets rejected and told to wake up by Shane, then Hershel, then Sasha. He finally realises that his family is the A-team.

He leads the herd to the bridge where he blows up a conveniently located box of TNT with a pistol shot. The bridge is destroyed and the herd of walkers plunges into the swollen river. Rick's body is gone. Everyone cries.

Earlier in the ep Maggie goes to kill the captive Negan. But seeing what a blubbering sook he has become, wanting to join Lucille in death, she relents and chucks him back in the cell.

Jaydis/Anne comes across Rick's barely alive body on the riverbank downstream of the bridge. She calls in the chopper to save him. The chopper flies off into the sunset.

Skip forward a few years and a new group of survivors is battling a horde of walkers. They are surrounded but are helped to escape when shots ring out and take down some walkers, opening the surrounding ring of zombies. The group run and meet the shooter. It's Judith Grimes, Carl hat and all.

Given the announcement of 3 made-for-TV movies starring Rick Grimes, Rick obviously survived, but the A-team probably doesn't know that.

Re: The Walking Dead

Post by skully on Tue 13 Nov 2018, 11:24

S09E06. Pedestrian.

Spoiler:
We've time-skipped 5 or 6 years. Everyone has different hairstyles (except Zeke), and Michonne prays to Rick at the shrine of the broken bridge, saying she'll never give up.

The 5 that Judith saved are initially rejected by the A-team but Rick's daughter insists they be given shelter. Eugene is no longer the cowardly lion.

Zeke and Carol worry that the Kingdom is getting run down. Henry goes off to Hilltop (or so he thinks) with Carol.

The 5 newbies (Tatty (Magna), Fatty (Luke), Deafy (Connie), Punky (Kelly) & Sleepy (Yumiko)) are taken to Alexandria. They are impressed. Alexandria now has a windmill and lots of other mod cons. Michonne rides in and is clearly the new Rick (or at least head of security). She is not impressed with the newbies. Rev suggests a Council vote.

The Council gets to know the newbies. Michonne exposes Tatty as a jailbird with a concealed knife. Michonne clearly votes "no".

The Rev and Rosita discuss the Rev's CB radio. He is keen to look for survivors. And then they kiss. WTF?? Rev is bonking Rosita.

On their journey, Henry and Carol hear a scream. But it's a trick. They are captured by Saviours lead by the despicable Jed. Jed wants Carol's ring and Henry reacts but gets felled. Carol hands over the ring.

Rosita and Eugene head out to set up a repeater station for Gabe's CB. As they set up equipment on a water tower, a herd approaches. Eugene slips and falls, hurting his leg.

Judith is doing algebra homework with the still-in-jail Negan. He seems to enjoy his time chatting with her, and gives some advice about taking in strangers.

In the newbies camp, Luke demands Tatty hands over Sleepy's necklace that she pinched. Some evil seems to lurk in this group.

Carol jumps the sleeping Saviours and burns them all alive.

Tatty heads off to knife Michonne but sees her joyfully playing with a little boy (it seems Rick and Michonne got pregnant). She relents and hands her knife over to Michonne. She acknowledges that she wouldn't trust her either. Michonne seems to soften towards Tatty.

Carol and Henry come across Daryl and offer him a lift.

The 5 newbies are about to be expelled when Michonne rides up. She says "change of plans". She is going to take them to Hilltop. But something has happened at or to Hilltop in the past 6 years. Seems Maggie is gone. Who's boss now? Enid? Or Tara?

Rosita and Eugene flee the herd, slowed by the ex-Mullet's leg injury. They smear themselves with mud to hide and hear the herd go by whispering actual English ("don't let them get away"). The Whisperers have arrived.
