Love the way the luxury yachts can moor right next to the track.

I agree. I hav'nt had much interest since they changed to the two brand racing. Hopefully the introduction of Nissan & Mercedes will spice the concept up a bit.

Re: V8 Supercars
Whincup wraps up the Championship with a pretty classy drive. He got pinged a drive-through for having the car in gear (spinning rear wheels) up on the jacks during a pit stop, so dropped back to last about 2/3 of the way through the race, but worked his way through the field to finish 3rd behind winner Craig Lowndes.
But God, Winton is a boring racetrack. Right up there with Lakeside.

Re: V8 Supercars
Say it ain't so
"VOLVO has confirmed it will enter the V8 Supercars championship from next year with a factory-backed two car outfit.
The Swedish car maker has joined forces with Melbourne-based Garry Rogers Motorsport to return to the top-tier of Australian motorsport for the first time for over a decade.
The deal was confirmed yesterday in Brisbane as part of the launch of the company's high-performance S60 Polestar sedan, which will form the basis of the V8 Supercars racers currently under development in Sweden.
The team will be known as Volvo Polestar Racing and the S60 racers will be powered by a Volvo-derived V8 modified specifically to meet the V8 Supercars regulations."

Jeez, the "block of flats" is back.

So once Holden and Ford fold, does that mean it will be Nissan v Mercs v Block of Flats in the Supercars?

You'd think GM would still have some sort of entry with whatever pile of Seppo shit they'd replace the Commodore with.
And Ford might have a Taurus FFS.

Re: V8 Supercars
My little brother (he knows someone from the industry) was telling me the new VF Commodore is the last 6 cylinder rear wheel drive Commodore Holden will make. The one after that will be 4 cylinder front wheel drive and badged as a Commodore.

They could do a Cobra and import just enough seppo muscle cars to cover the sales qualification number

Guess they will just swap the badge.skully wrote:My little brother (he knows someone from the industry) was telling me the new VF Commodore is the last 6 cylinder rear wheel drive Commodore Holden will make. Re: V8 Supercars
True dat, but I think they'll go for something more the size of the Aurion. The Chief rather liked the look of the Cruze, until we took it for a test drive.Big Dog wrote:They already do that. Re: V8 Supercars
It is a sad day when a once great marque like Holden thinks that copying a Toyota Aurion is the way of the future.
Thank fark for Subaru and Mazda.

Front wheel drive. Four cylinders. Not a Mazda, Renault, VW or Focus.

Re: V8 Supercars
It probably won't let him down, but we found it a bit tinny with a clunky manual gear box that shunted the gear stick around under acceleration. The Mazda 3 was very nice, but pretty pricey. Looked at the Subaru Impreza, but its boot was non-existent. Kia Rio was a bit meh. Ended up going with a Mitsubishi Lancer Hatchback. Goes like a little rocket, and has oodles of boot space. Cheap as chips at the moment too. You can get a 2.0 L sedan with the sports pack for under $20,000 in the current EOFY sales.Big Dog wrote:My young bloke is looking at a Cruze. Hehehe. My work vehicle is coming to the end of its lease, and I've decided to take the cash instead, as they now charge us a full freight novated lease ($25K+ pa). You'll be even more horrified to learn I'll be driving my wife's little Getz to work. The Mitsubeauty is her new car.
