As one of the senior citizens of the tour, he still has some values.
What does it say about todays tennis when both male & female prospective champions are both in their late thirties.
Re: Wimblenod
It says that consistency and effort can still beat flashy patchy brilliance ... and that 35 year olds today are a lot healthier than 35 year olds in 1975. Rosewall looked like an old man when he lost to Connors. Federer still looks as fit as any player going around. Perhaps pure power isn't as important as it used to be, with modern racquet technology allowing Federer and Williams to whack the ball with as much power as almost anybody (barring service speed from the top servers).

You are right about modern racquets. The more physical serve & volley game is almost dead. Its much easier to stand on the baseline & thrash away at each other.

Muscles was 39 when he lost to Connors, who was an ATG in his own right. Rosewall was till winning pro tournaments 3 years after that.

For the record, I had 10 bucks on Cilic at 50s at the start of the tournament so I am a little bit torn tonight.

Re: Wimblenod
She had her final, lucky enough to meet the flakily nervous Konta.
She was always going to be taken apart by Muguruza, a better player and made of sterner stuff.

Can you get your money back?
Majestic Fed again. Only time he made mistakes was when distracted by Cilic's state. His own performance stellar as of old.
The first three paragraphs of this https://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/may/15/the-mighty-fed-julian-barnes-reviews-federer-and-me-story-obsession-william-skidelsky still stand as mighty fine writing on a mighty fine player.
