Re: England v India, ICCCT Final, Edgbaston, 23 June, 2013
Ishant Sharma.
He actually reminds me a bit of Agarkar. There I some natural talent there lurking deep within that simpering body of a complete shit house cock face but he doesn't half make you want to kick him in the mouth after almost every other ball
How he gets wickets is often inexplicable

So....the final was reduced to a T20 slogoff. What a farce.

Brass Monkey wrote:As I say, he needs to start hanging around with Bruce French, every single day. It's strange Davies doesn't get a mention. He, incidentally, didn't get a chance (8 ODIs, not all together). He was hardly abysmal - average of 30, S/R 105 - basically being told to sacrifice his wicket by knocking the shit out of it early (ironic, considering the current top three scenario).
He's been the business this season, averaging 58.33 in his 7 matches, striking at 130.
He's another touch player. Another Ian Bell, all nice dabs and timing for twos. That's why he didn't cut it as a pinch hitter for England: he couldn't hit the ball over the inner ring. Didn't have the range.
He's a decent cricketer, but it's hard to imagine a role for him. He's not going to open and you don't really want a guy who can't hit coming in at six or seven.
I think Johnny Bairstow's a more realistic long-term option, purely because of the way he plays his shots. He thumps the ball. It's not always pretty, but it means when he finds a gap it tends to thunder to the fence, as opposed to a number of the top order who only get a single or a hard run two for a sweet caress through the covers that is inevitably hauled in by the sweeper.

It was a farce, but at least the right team won and we need never talk of the ICC Trophy ever again.

Meh. He's hit seven sixes this List 'A' season, 44 boundaries on top of that. Out of all the keepers ATM, he's the one that warrants selection more than any other outside of Buttler. As I say, he's striking in the 100s - I'd rather see what goes on with him rather than write him off before he's been tried.
Re: England v India, ICCCT Final, Edgbaston, 23 June, 2013
It will probably be back... can't see the Test championship getting off the ground sadly, so there's a fair chance we will see this again at some stage.Dello wrote:Big Dog wrote:So....the final was reduced to a T20 slogoff. What a farce.

It's a decent format and more interesting than extended two or three-way JAMODI contests.

That sounds like a note.

No note - I've always thought he was a bit shit.
Re: England v India, ICCCT Final, Edgbaston, 23 June, 2013
There's also Ben Foakes, who is one of those young players without many results on the board, but who has the 'eye' of the selectors, Joe Root-style. Never seen him play to be honest, but he comes highly rated. Played a few cameo innings on the Lions tour to Aus earlier this year that on the scoreboard suggested he can hit. Not sure about his keeping.

Re: England v India, ICCCT Final, Edgbaston, 23 June, 2013
^^ It was something to watch, horrie.
40 required off 24 balls, and Bopara hammers 12 in the next 6.
So it's now 28 needed off 18. And Dhoni brings on Ishant F*cking Sharma to bowl his utter filth.
Morgan blocks the first ball, second ball goes for a 6, third wide, fourth wide.
Now they need 20 off 16 balls, with 5 wickets in hand.
Fast forward 15 deliveries to the last ball of the game. England are 8 down and need 6 to win, 5 to tie.
It was a choke of heroic proportions.

Morgan started the rot with an unnecessary shot, Bopara got unlucky next ball, nailing a pull shot to an unusually-placed square leg, and then the panic started.
It was a mess. The silver lining is that this England team will probably start working and training like they never have before in the lead-up to the Ashes.

maybe the long term influence of importing saffies into Pomgolian teams has started to rub off....still doubt very few saffie teams were capable of a massive choke such as this

Ishant probably bowled 3 half-decent balls in the whole match, the ball that got Morgan, the ball that got Bopara and the next ball that beat Bresnan. Before that it was 3.2 overs of farts and faeces. Bopara was caught by surprise as that was the only short ball that was bowled with any pace. Every one previous to that just sat up slowly and said 'Hit me'. India were really really lucky.

That is a fate almost as bad as selecting Midge.

The real sad thing is, the result of the tournament probably wouldn't have had any impact on Ishant's place in the team.

And just like that, all it took India fans all around to forget all the BCCI shit, it's corruption, the fixing and culpable players, Dhobi/Srini dictatorship and all other shit was just a win of this most wortheless trophy.......Dhobi is suddenly the greatest captain/player all over again. All issues forgotten and a distant bad dream already! Can't wait for a 3-0 humiliation in SA.....

Why do you say so? It could work either way (or have no effect).
Are you trying to F whole teams in the A now?
