Cheers for the best wishes Peter, Dan & Chaz. On the bright side, I now have a ready made conversation starter.

On the lap top ATM - it's a little easier with the touch pad than left hand mousing on the main PC.

Oh yeah, we've all tried it with the left hand, but you can never get the rhythm right.

So when you give the 5-nil sign you're actually saying 3 wins and 2 draws?

I'd cross my fingers if I could. Cool

Wiping my arse hasn't proved too problematic. Spreading marg with left hand is weird. Opening hard jars/bottles is a no-go ATM, cos can't hold stuff in right hand. PC work with normal mouse is a pain cos right hand is fully strapped - did superficial damage to thumb and 4th finger - in hindsight, prolly lucky not to only have a full pinky left. As qmy alluded earlier, how ironic would that have been - skully with just a pinky left. clown

Re: Skully in the waughs - there goes the post count

Post by PeterCS on Sat 11 Jan 2014, 01:25

Leslie O'Brien Fleetwood-Smith (...) played in 10 Test matches for Australia between 1935 and 1938, taking 42 wickets. A left-arm spin bowler who changed his style after breaking his right arm as a schoolboy, he often exploited the googly and the "chinaman" with effect.
/
Fleetwood-Smith took four wickets in England's first innings of the fourth Test at Adelaide [1936-37 Ashes]. Set a target of 392 runs to win, England reached 3/148 in their second innings by stumps on the fifth day, with their leading batsman Wally Hammond 39 not out and the match evenly poised. At the beginning of the last day's play, Bradman gave Fleetwood-Smith the ball and told him, simply, that the fate of the match was in his hands. Before Hammond could add to his overnight score, Fleetwood-Smith delivered a perfectly-flighted off-break that drew Hammond forward as it curved away in the air. It then pitched and spun in the opposite direction to its trajectory, went between Hammond's bat and pad, and bowled him. The rest of the English batting fell for the addition of only 94 runs as Fleetwood-Smith advanced his figures to 6/110, giving him ten wickets for the match. Australia had levelled the series at two-all [and went on to win the series 3-2].

Neville Cardus wrote: "Australia would have lost at Adelaide but for Fleetwood-Smith."
O'Reilly described it as the best delivery he ever witnessed in a major cricket match.
Bradman wrote, "If ever the result of a Test match can be said to have been decided by a single ball, this was the occasion."

After the match, thousands of spectators gathered in front of the pavilion and chanted his name until he came out to greet them. Later, he was given a civic reception in his home town of Stawell to celebrate his achievement.

Typing slowly with left hand.

Details - was trying to do a big firewood job too quickly - cutting paling fence panels up on a saw table. Blade jammed momentarily and kicked. Next thing I'm looking at a very mangled 1st 2 fingers mixed up in a shredded glove. Basically disintegrated the top knuckle in those 2 fingers. Not grouse.

Doc did great job to hopefully save top of middle finger (sans top knuckle) by sacrificing top of index finger (scabbing the bone to splice). Risk of infection high, so my place of work off limits for next 3 weeks.

Hopeful end result - middle finger a few mm shorter but only one knuckle, index finger an inch shorter. Short term - slower typing and left hand fapping.

Moral - Don't fark withchainsaw

Not pissed at all. It was 10.30 am. Pure carelessness with a task I have done many, many times before. Let my hand get a bit too close to the teeth on the saw table, saw bogged and kicked and in a blink my hand had bounced off the blade.

Get well soon yourself, ETG. Breathing's a bastard with a cracked rib. rambo
