Re: World Cup 2019
I suppose we should bump this one with little other meaningful stuff to discuss.
So basically June is gawn for the World Cup and then the 5 Ashes Tests are crammed from 1 August to 16 September.
Works out reasonably well for me as I am in Colombia for 5 weeks up until beginning of August (get home on 3 August).

Aye. I actually begin Spanish lessons tonight!! I have picked up a fair bit (have been with my current Colombian lass for 2 years) but have a lot to learn.

Hehe, I know that line well.
Can count, know all the basic spanish greetings, know lots of proper nouns. Time to learn grammar, verbs and sentences.

Terrific S. You will have a great time. Really good you are making the effort to learn as much as you can. Your partner will be really appreciative.
I have friends way further south touring Patagonia. I am super envious.

Re: World Cup 2019
Snoozies name their 15 man squad:
New Zealand:
Kane Williamson (capt), Tom Blundell, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Colin Munro, Jimmy Neesham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor
No idea WTF Blundell is but the rest are pretty solid for JAMODI cricket. They will inevitably overachieve again.

How's the Spanish thing going? And more importantly how are you doing it? My 6 years of classroom taught French was never as good as my Portugese done very informally at the W. I. I though the French may have helped the easiness.

Geez Louise
"Blackcaps opening batsman Tom Latham will lead a 13-man squad to Brisbane next month for a three-match World Cup warm-up series between a New Zealand XI and an Australian XI.
The Kiwis, who announced their World Cup squad last week, will be without nine members of that group due to Indian Premier League commitments, while Ross Taylor will be on county duties with Middlesex."
----------------------------------------------
My favorite minnow basher has made skipper status. I fully expect him to fail three times - unless Aus fields a minnow-like bowling attack.

What's the point of warming up with only a couple of the squad actually being there?
Also, shouldn't the Aust squad have been named by now?

Yeah, seems weird (the Kiwi squad make-up).
Dunno when the Aus squad is due to be named.

It is expected that Cricket Australia will make a raft of announcements on Monday, April 15 including naming the contract list for 2019-20, the 2019 World Cup 15-man squad, as well as the Australia A limited-overs and four-day squads that will tour England in June and July.

Re: World Cup 2019
has been on the radio - SEN - in Melbourne. There has obviously been a press release. Either SEN has broken the embargo or it has been a softening up leak.

Re: World Cup 2019
Formal announcement was due today. Either CA wanted to soften the news or they are just incompetent. Take your pick really.
Oddly enough if form and recent history was to be a factor gcspoc would be marginally ahead of Seasick.
Frankly I would find it hard to support any team containing the poc. How could anyone with a modicum of decency (and I am short in that regard) support any team containing the gcspoc excrescence.
Seasick Steve is just thick as a brick. Because of this it is hard to feel special antipathy towards him. If anything the gcspoc is even thicker but he seems void of insight and remains a potentially violent human being.
