Rams win in OT in New Orleans with a 57 yard FG.
The big talking point though was a dreadful no call on a pass interference against the Rams at the end of reg time. If the call had been made the Saints would have run time down and kicked a field goal to win.

Gggrrrrr. Pleased I did not watch this.
Saints when the misery of this loss dissipates should be proud of a great season.
Meanwhile it looks like the Pats juggernaut will roll on to another Super Bowl.

The AFC game is going to OT with multiple scoring plays in the last few minutes. KC scored 24 points in the 4th Q so will fancy their chances in OT.

Or not. Pats win on the first drive with a Brady masterclass.

Yep. After all these years I am sure MrK knows where the naughty corner is. There he goes now, off on that well worn trail.

I wanted to see Brees v Brady. The officials in the Saints game should be banned from officiating in anything including social matches for life. That is if they get out of the Big Easy alive.

Re: American Football Thread
They’ve been pretty unlucky, after losing to the Minnesota Miracle a year ago.
I suspect the Pats will win easily, the Rams have a lot of young talent on and off the field, but this is a different stage and they’ve lost a bit of momentum since early season despite scraping through to the big game. Their opponents have done the opposite after a “mediocre” 11-5 regular season. Emperor Belichick and Darth Brady to go out on top? We can hope... but they’ll probably still be doing the same in 5 years’ time.

Ashitty, by their standards, regular season for the pats and I think, as was pointed out above, that experience will out. Plus I hate the LA teams and if poor old Aaron can't be there at least Brady is.

Pats up 10-3 and Rams were just intercepted after a terrible pass from Goff.
2.30 to go - looks all over.

Re: American Football Thread
Don't know how anyone could get excited about a game that goes for three hours & the ball is only in play for twelve minutes.

Strange game anyway, the polar opposite of last year’s... Brady and Belichick could have two or three more left in them. They just find different ways to win when they need to. Other teams come and go, it’s so hard to repeat - I expect the Rams and Chiefs to have 8-8 hangovers next season and watch the Pats take to the stage in January and February again, facing the latest NFC flash in the pan in the Super Bowl.

Valentine Holmes get a practice squad spot with the Jets under the international pathway programme. Means he doesn't get to play a game this year but can't be cut either so will spend the year learning the game.
There is also an 80% pay cut for him!

And that cut could be for at least 2 years, given he may not even get a start in the following year.
Gutsy financial play to accept the offer.
Then again, no NRL side could take him back this season for salary cap reasons, so he's done his arse either way.
