Re: AFL 2017
Dimmer, stick to coaching and leave the ump-bashing to the SBM dickheads.

Great news. Looks like figjam is getting a 3 year contract extension. His players are celebrating by getting flogged by Port.

RIP Harry Beitzel
Harry and his 'Focus On Football' team taught me the game in the late 60s
'Yes Tommy, I can hear you now....'

Death was scared of H. Personally I ranked H with Taylor and Hunt as a commentator, ie not highly

Re: AFL 2017
Not many who ever got to look at H weren't scared of him....he was one of the great faces for radio.
I didn't mind him as a caller, I sure as hell started missing him very quickly when Rexie Rhyming Slang took his gig (though nowhere near as much as Bill Jacobs missed him....Bill and Rex made Howard and Costello look like Torville and Dean)....and in any case his footy commentary was a few light years better than his cricket calling

Haha had forgotten the cricket calling. Bill Jacobs and Tommy L were both decent old school gents.

Been listening to 774 pretty much continuously since 1pm, HBs name nary a mention despite his pioneering work on FOF for ABCTV, not even in the news bulletins....deliberate memory loss?

A lot of folk were not fond of H. He was a somewhat colorful businessman. Bad form by the ABC.

Aye h. Thank goodness for the 30 point jump the Bloods got on the Crows in Q1.
Then it was down to the relentless Swannies defence to hang on as the Crows stormed towards the lead. The good guys hung on by their fingernails.
Great win.

Re: AFL 2017
a bit churlish Embee.
It was a handy effort from Buddoir.
Given we got fark all frees, if he went a metre or so too far who cares.
We are temporarily 4th. What are the chances the tiggers will be there after the final round. Your thoughts?
Watched part of the game with my favourite ex Mrs H who is a huge Tiger fan. She barracked like crazy for the Cows.
Had to leave as I could not stand to hear another word from Brian Taylor. He seems to be auditioning for a gig in the Nein cricket commentary box.

Re: AFL 2017
I love Buddy , h
Good luck to him for his goal ...it was another crack at the umpiring
....
Tigs will have to rely on themselves to finish top 4
Two hard games and they could easily lose both ...Freo and St Kilda both like to break their hearts
...
picked us as 5th to 12th at start of year but it would seem a waste of a season if we finished there now
Sydney would be unbackable for the flag (and should be now) if they had snuck a couple of wins in the first 6 weeks

Re: AFL 2017
The umpiring was woeful.... some numpty on the Big Footy Adelaide Board set up a thread to complain about the umpiring. Happily most Adelaide posters on the thread acknowledged they got the rub of the green.
The Tigers have been great this year and deserve to finish top four. Their fate is in their hands.
If my mob miss they have no-one to blame bar themselves. That said I have been thrilled by their efforts since the loss to Carlton in Round 6. Every game since has been a must win final.

Seems Big Footy is still SBM for remedials
Meanwhile, the second-last team to beat Sydney remains Carlton.....

Agree, saw it live and expected the ump to blow the whistle as the ball was going through. Oddly the commentators were so orgasmic they didn't seem to notice how far he ran. Stupidly he took a bounce straight away. That may have thrown them off the scent. Agree that Crows got rub of the green though. Couldn't believe the third quarter and then when the stats came up they said they didn't notice.

Re: AFL 2017
Tonight the longest live hoodoo between two teams was broken....since Carlton's previous last win against Hawthorn in April 2005, three weeks before our last PP game and a month into Buddy & Roughy's career, every AFL team has beaten every other AFL team at least once.

Happy the Blues won, especially as the Dawks cannot make the finals and they are our hoodoo team (sorry Nath - a consoling pat on the head for you)
