The Abbott/ScoMo/Truffle rhetoric has been no one who arrives by boat will be re-settled in Australia

The Trump line is banning migration from the Middle East (except where it might damage his business interests)

Truffles cant be accused of a backdown in accepting reffoes

Trump has to eat a shit sandwich on his rhetoric

Yes, bad deal for Trump but not necessarily for the US originally.

Trump has all the diplomatic skills of a squashed slug. Methinks this deficiency will bite him and the US in the arse sometime soon.

Apparently his head of security (an ex NY cop) wanted some sort of primacy over the secret service and have his own people police events alongside them.

Amateur hour indeed.

Bob Carr was interviewed on 2GB today and was adamant that the news regarding the phone call was definitely leaked by representatives of Trump, in an effort to make him look tough in the eyes of the US electorate. Based on the letters in the above article, he looked more a boorish oaf.

This is Steve Bannon. He was responsible for the drafting of the Immigration Exec Order that is now being torn apart by the US Legal System.

This is what The Donald thinks of Bannon's buffoonery.

"What followed was equally remarkable a 2am council of war at the White House, during which Kelly and the rest of the cabinet security, defense secretary Jim Mattis and the yet to be confirmed secretary of state Rex Tillerson, reamed out Bannon and the rest of the White House political team for shutting them out of the secretive drafting of the migration executive order and their stubbornness in resisting sensible changes to it.

And what came out of that was remarkable too Trump declared that until his White House team could get their act together he'd issue no more executive orders."

This is Mark Holden. He thinks The Donald is funny. I think he would do a better job than his doppleganger.

Trump only cares about his image and his ratings

"Trump watches lots of cable; he monitors Sean Spicer's press briefing every day; and he fills up time between meetings by showing off the decor of the White House. He doesn't seem to be very busy with actual work, does he? And yet, he wasn't fully briefed on a simple executive order, something that would have taken no more than a few minutes. What's more, it's pretty obvious that he's also signed other executive orders that he barely understands.

This is pretty much what we all expected from Trump, but it's still jarring to see it confirmed. He spends a lot of time in front of the television, he obsesses about polls, he keeps an eye on the daily press briefing, he seethes with anger at criticism, and he putters around whenever there are no meetings scheduled. In other words, he still thinks he's the star of a reality TV show. He cares about his image and his ratings, but that's about it. When it comes to making America great again, he expects his staff to take care of things."

-----------------------------------------

Ferkin scary shit. If Bannon says "hit the button", he'll hit it.

Sooner or later he'll have to road-test the bravado on Congress....who have the legal power to send him out on a rail as they tried on Clinton in 1998.

Farkin' funny but probably not realistic.

The Dems probably feel they're due a turn because of Bill who got his as payback for Nixon. (FFS guys wasn't poor old Jimmy enough of a square up).

I never expected to witness the election of a US president who makes me nostalgic for the intellectual heavyweight that GWB now appears to be (by comparison).

Aye. Scary to think that The Donald makes GWB look like a brain surgeon in the smarts dept. Clearly the new Prez is used to being surrounded by sycophants who tell him how good and smart he is.
