Unfortunately, there was officiating farce yesterday with Uran and Benett being handed 20 second penalties for accepting water in the last few kms (20km is the nearest point to accept food/water). Bardet, who did exactly the same thing, got away with no penalty.

Well, he IS French afterall.
And he definitely won't get any penalties today.

Three cat 1 climbs today. Lets see if Aru has any legs left after yesterday.

Worrisome day for Aru. His team is definitely weakest of the top 3. But again, too much of a gap between the summit and the finish. Goodness this route sucks.

BTW, Lance Armstrong's podcast is pretty good. His race-craft is undeniable.

Penalties to Bennett and Uran also rescinded.

Warren Barguil wins the stage but Mikel Landa was very impressive finishing a close 4th. He made up a lot of time in the GC, now just over a minute behind. He is a team-mate of Froome but I would like to see him leading another team next year.

Very interesting first half of the stage. Unfortunately, too much distance between the summit and finish made it an okay second half.

Fwiw, landa has been linked to a move away from sky.... To movistar. Hopefully he'll have better luck with the Giro there.

Fark it. Was watching it on TV and fell asleep with about 20 mins to go only to wake up just after the race.

That one does look interesting ... might even break the peleton up a bit more than usual! Expect some attacks on the climbs.

Another good stage although it is increasingly obvious that Sky are too good.

Might be speaking too early, but looks like Froome's indeed peaking later and looking to maintain a higher level at the Vuelta.

Yeah...with the Alps to come it looks like Froome is a cert.

At the moment, Froome seems to be around $1.36 to $1.38 to win the tour.

I'm thinking of having a small wager on Rigoberto Uran at $12.00.

Michael Matthews was always going to outsprint that group. Won by a good 18 inches.

Dan Martin loses valuable time & might be out of contention now.

That should've been a 50 point stage. Matthews and sunweb (barguil, in particular, but also Geschke) have been fantastic.

Apart from the overall battle, another chance for Matthews to close in on the green jersey. Similarly day after tomorrow.
