Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
Cavendish has long been fond of throwing his elbow or shoulder at others; he's a far more aggressive rider than almost anyone else on the tour. Yesterday he went for a gap that wasn't there to start with and which totally vanished when all the riders including Sagan were forced to the right because the lead rider veered right. He nevertheless led with his head, pushed Sagan with his head, and tried to force his way through. Sagan's elbow was nowhere near horizontal until after Cavendish had lost balance and fallen. Cavendish is a whinger ready to complain loudly when he comes off second best in an accident, but who does not take responsibility when his own elbow/shoulder/headbutt action causes another rider to fall.

Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
Cavendish has been very measured in his comments as has Sagan. 2014 was his last sprint misdemeanour, unlike Sagan who had the very poor Vantomme push in April the week before one of his season's big target. Cav's definitely not close to Nacer Bouhanni in that aggression regard. Quite similar to most sprinters.
He went for a gap that was there, and would've remained if Demare sprinted straight. In response that gap was also getting shut off by Sagan. As for the push with the head, he didn't really deviate from his sprint line unlike that incident with Gerrans (where he was clearly at fault 15 times out of 10) and could've been completely accidental. The follow through with the elbow, that's less explicable imo. Surely a sprint DQ, race DQ was harsh, but that Vantomme incident might have put him on probation. Given he got away scot-free that time, I'm less inclined to feel sorry for him this time.
Anyway, have to see whether Porte will have the leg when there is another mountain (should be some time by August). Froome looked very comfortable yesterday.

What do you think of the circulating YouTube slo-mo that appears to show Cav falling and THEN Sagan lifting his elbow to avoid it becoming entangled with Cav's brake control?

Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
As predicted, Kittel took out stage six ahead of Demare & Greipel with Matthews in seventh. No change to the GC top five.

Certainly seems to be some measure of doubt.
Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
Seen them quite a few times, and it's a racing incident with Sagan's leading elbow being the most questionable by a distance imo. Had he got relegated and a points deduction. This issue would've died down by now.lardbucket wrote:What do you think of the circulating YouTube slo-mo that appears to show Cav falling and THEN Sagan lifting his elbow to avoid it becoming entangled with Cav's brake control?
And honest opinion? I think Sagan fans are the equivalent of Tendulkar fans (not exaggerating. Online, they and Contador's legion are horrible). There was never an acknowledgement that their rider might've been wrong. Like Tendulkar, Sagan also has a lot of cheerleaders in the media. Very little criticism during the Gent Wevelgem.
Hope Demare can hold on to the green till the end. Unlikely though it is due to the number of shitty sprint stages.

Another stage for the sprinters. At least there is one cat 4 climb so hopefully it won't be as tedious as yesterdays stage.

Wonder how they split these two?

They gave it to Kittel. Should have been a tie.

Who was the other rider?

Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Judges had to use a high Res photo to separate them.
Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
6mm, apparently. Tie it!
In the u23 world championship road race in Melbourne (2010), the judges gave third spot to two riders. Phinney and some other. First and second were Michael Matthews and Degenkolb.

Serious stage for the climbers with a cat 1 climb to finish. Should see some good attacks.

How would a tie affect time bonuses?

Worth staying up for, unlike a couple of the recent stages.

So the tour begins today. Anyone else notice that one of the great climbers, Robert Millar has had a sex change?

He wrote a piece on cyclingnews.com too.
Also, finally a good stage today. Could've been much worse for Froome than has turned out.

Calmejane looks to have a winning lead but now he is starting to cramp!
Looks as though he has recovered now.

Big stage tonight ... and there will be some sore riders after last night!
Will all the sprinters survive?

Stage set for Froome to increase his lead. Porte can match him in the climbs but Froome is better at descending.
Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical 2017
Surely that intermediate sprint line is taking the piss.

Thomas & Majka both crash on a descent. Likely to lose considerable time to the other contenders.
