Wow! and Wow again - Bannies take loss out on Bannies
I am worried about the long term prospects of Furris effigy business. It seems Bannie coppers and governments are taking the Champs Trophy loss to heart.
Government actions have gone well beyond the traditional effigy burning.
Several Bannies apparently* of the Islam persuasion celebrated the Stannies win and have been arrested and charged with sedition. Penalties could include life sentences.
LINK
Perhaps Oz should follow this precedent when we get flogged in the forthcoming Ashes. Members of the Barmy Army could be deported and Strinos of Pomgolian extraction who celebrate the Oz loss could be interned.

None of them will get a life sentence. At most a wrap on their knuckles for mischief.
I have lived just opposite one of these ghetto like places during an India Pakistan bilateral series and this is just a bit of a magnet for trouble. Their actions will cause reactions and the last thing anyone needs is two groups of testosterone charged people with too much spare energy thinking more out of their willies than minds squaring off against each other.

tho I do like the idea of the Barmy Army being threatened with deportation.

"The arrests come as some Muslims in India say they feel a sense of rising alienation."
Well why don't they bugger off to Pakistan. Isn't that what partition was all about in the first place?

Alienation is the new buzzword. Assimilation has fallen out of favour.

I didn't originally read the link as I'd seen it in the local newspapers yesterday. And to be fair, it is the NY Times. They do rank highly for sanctimonious preaching based on half baked facts.
"sense of rising alienation of Muslims"... There is some amount of that. But that's not the reason these people set off crackers when Pakistan win. This has happened long before the "alienating" parties ever came close to power.

Of course it isn't. It's the normal BS PC brought up by the bleeding hearts.

And an update: sedition charges dropped, disrupting communal harmony charges remain.
