Summer ended at least a couple of months ago, we've already had just about the latest Test ever in an English season, but there's still a bunch of JAMODIs to squeeze in...
Coming next year, a triangular SODIT with Ireland and Afghanistan in November, probably at this rate...

WI looked on for a massive score with Gayle and Lewis teeing off, but the innings fell away to a relatively modest 176. England will fancy their chances of chasing that, if the weather holds out.

Looks a decent effort by the Windies in the field and with the ball.

Comfortable for England in the first 50 (well, 42) over game. Long awaited maiden ODI century for Jonny B, should cement his place in this format now.

Geez, WI from 2-103 in 23 to basically all 204 in 42. That's rank!!!
Ganjas continue to be a T20 force only. Piss poor.
Well done England and Jonny B.

Or...
14 balls bowled. Very rare for Trent Bridge to get a washout, Edgbaston usually gets its share...

So, late September in England is about as good as monsoonal September India and Bangladesh to play cricket.

We often get some fairly decent weather (even if not particularly warm) at this time of year. Been a washout this year though. Just following on from the later summer, no real settled weather since early July.

Well, they've beaten 14 balls today, at least. Weather looks likely to hold until late afternoon, anyway, so should be some kind of result.
Steady start from England, Hales lost his middle stump to a free hit ball after a Taylor noey... was only half watching so took a while to register why he wasn't out!

Well, even after a couple of wobbles we rack up 369. A flurry of Moeen mooeys hammers the WI bowling late on.
This England batting line-up is as deep as the Marianas Trench, maybe even as deep as Deep Dasgupta...

Plunkett is the oddity. He does occasionally serve up the gift ball. But he does take wickets. Including good ones.
I suppose past injury proneness - some have it, some don't - and his age - which shouldn't be a factor - combine to rule him out for the Ashes squad. Pity.

He's struggled to make a mark on his Test appearances, but maybe to an extent due to a "bang it in short aimlessly" tactic coming from the coaching regime... seems he's been pigeonholed as a white-ball bowler for a while now.PeterCS wrote:Plunkett is the oddity. The downside of having aggressive fire in your belly.
Let's hope the guy did not suffer the fate of the locker door.

I wonder if this will have any impact on the Ashes? Surely Stokes will lose the vice-captaincy at the very least.
The ECB in their infinite wisdom have plucked Sam Billings from the middle of a county match as cover. Surely there's three perfectly fit and able backups in the squad already, even if two of them are specialist bowlers? Lucky it was a meaningless match anyway.

Particularly then.
He's obviously hit people with the ball, too. I meant assault. (Allegedly.) Well, you knew what I meant.
