Hehehe...agreed.
I think this thread and the events leading to it marked the end of Mudge's participation here.

A life ban if convicted, a five year ban if not. The ICC must act as the ECB will not.

How many times do we have to say it...horace wrote:A life ban if convicted, a five year ban if not. The ICC must act as the ECB will not.
It. Has. F*ck. All. To. Do. With. Cricket.
You can’t ban someone from working, in addition to what punishment the courts impose, unless them continuing to do said work would cause a risk to the public. You’re just bitter because your board cut off their nose to spite their face over the sandpaper incident.
If he’s not behind bars we should pick him. There’s no room for morals in sport, it’s win at all costs, as you Aussies well know.

And if the ICC do play judge, jury and executioner above the British legal system, it will surely result in a cricketing Brexit. (or just Exit... maybe EWxit?)

Praps, beams, but your Board is notoriously stuff-shirted. They may not want a convicted crim pulling on the 3 Lions.

Anyway, we’ve stolen the Australian weather this year. Think it was a swap for the Ashes (although it didn’t stop snowing until about April...)

Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
In England... well, maybe April was overstating it but we certainly had significant snow some way into March. It seemed like an endless winter... then the summer took over, and we’ve had basically only one weekend of rain since the end of May, and 30C temperatures quite regularly in parts of the country. So we’ve had both extremes this year.Bradman wrote:Snowing where?

30c extreme. Definately one aspect I dont miss. Snow can be nice in the right context.

Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
When most buildings are not air conditioned it’s pretty extreme. While there will usually be the occasional day in that temperature range in most summers, in central/southern England at least, it’s been the consistent warm and dry weather that has been so out of the ordinary, perhaps unlike anything for over 40 years here. Some places saw pretty much zero rainfall in June and there was just one weekend of storms that interrupted the same in July.
Looks like it’s going to return to something like normal this week, could be some rain affecting the second Test this weekend.

Yeah open plan living is something you never got your heads around. Outrageous heating costs in winter I realise.

Re: Oh Stokesy......STOKESY!!!
Yeah, I guess you build and invest for the climate that you generally have, not things that happen once every decade or two.
It’s the same with severe winters, we rarely get heavy snow (some years there’s never anything more than a dusting of it) so when it does happen the place grinds to a halt, despite the fact that the level of snowfall would be considered next to nothing in Canada or Sweden. But there’s little value in investing in snow ploughs to be used once every few years at most.
These hotter summers might become more common though, so might need to rethink the way we build here eventually...

Spose we shd be shocked the Poms want him back. If he gets a stretch no doubt there will be a clamour for day release so he can play for the Pomgolians.

Is affray a crime you can do time for in UK? Or is a good behaviour bond (1st offence and all that) the more likely outcome?

Affray needs a second person being a dickhead. On the video evidence the dickhead with him wasn't being much of a dickhead.
It carries jail time but So does jaywalking.
