Stoneman looks quality. He might fill his boots in this series.

England’s session, I reckon. Worst case scenario was 80-5 at lunch and on the back foot straight away. We’re hanging in there.

The f*ck is this bollocks?
They pronounce "v" like a "h" in Leeds.

With only 59 runs in the 2 hours, it's not a session that counts as "won" unless they can build on such a cautious outset.
Closer to say England top order hasn't collapsed (at least yet) - so basically all to come, all to play for.

Vince doing his usual seductive fandango where he looks pure class and then nicks off for an insubstantial 30-odd.
It's the hope that kills you.
The pitch won that session. What a sponge pit. Lyon looks the best bet.

Raining. Good for Aust as the quicks get a longer break.

Re: Trike's allusion...
The boxing/wrestling-type pre-match "trash talk" wears a bit thin, all right.
I understand the need for hype to drive the financial train, but if someone (Lyon in this case) doesn't offer something to feed the hype, it is cooked up as a script for someone to release to the media.
If trash talk is necessary, at least let's have some high-grade stuff.
And yet it sets some fizzing with delight, bants or grudges. Which is the superficial purpose. The deep purpose being income generation. Wake up, folks!

Freshen up the track, too? Is that helpful, or in Brizzy will it basically slow the pace?

PS I'm not suggesting rain is being directly let on to the pitch, a la Harold Pinter. I am talking humidity drift. ...

No longer a reset of DRS reviews at 80 overs but teams no longer lose a review if it's umpire's call.
Changed a couple of months back.

Pathetic miss from Brittle. It was a regulation edge that most park keepers would take. Hopefully he apologises, takes a shower and performs close to the public's expectations.
By the way Mr. Dog, as I recall, you and Lardy have knifed other keepers for years and boosted Rusty. Expect a count of Rusty's errors. That is how keepers are assessed.
