Are we likely to need two spinners in a Test?

Not really a surprise. Most of us were suggesting he should have been in the SCG squad ahead of AA.

He won't start though in SA unless Elmer is injured.

Agree, they're unlikely to prepare spin-friendly pitches and Lyon is clearly the first choice slow option.

TEST SQUAD: Steve Smith (c), David Warner (vc), Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Peter Handscomb, Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Jon Holland, Jhye Richardson.

Jhye Richardson? So it's official, Chadd Sayers is NTPFA.

As long as he remains on the poni list though. Smile

Richardson ffs. A bit of justice for Dutchy2. Leagues ahead of AA and the sokpoc, even if he carries the drinks.

Just as the vix chances plummet so do those of the worriers who have the burden of playing AA.

Still they won't have to carry Mere Marsh, who the bnlg no doubt views as the next Oz skipper.

Odd they did not take another opener. The Wrench is stiff.

... and of course Bangers is lucky. With a bit more luck after Ima breaks a finger nail in T1, Bangers will keep and bat at 7 and an opener with good technique can get a go.

Jhye is lucky the NSP has no clue ...

It's the 140 plus mentality FFS

waste of time for the second spinner to be in Saf ...only be needed if the GOAT gets injured or sick ...be better off at home playing Shield

Holland has deserved to be picked though
(Would be better preparation for a future tour of banIndia for Orrible to go as a drink carrying tourist in Sth Africa than practice in Spiv Central before getting sent home to play BaBeL)

Sayers has indicated on radio that he is extremely disappointed. The NSP didn't bother to tell him and he found out through social media.

He is clearly hurt by the NSP lacking the balls and decency to tell him directly. I don't blame him.

Hohns et al are a pack of Nigels. When are these elitist turds going to get their comeuppance?

And meanwhile, Philander will probably be MOTS with his 130kmh swingers.

Sayers is unlucky.

'South Australian bowlers not called Sayers' all seem to have had a crack at some stage in one international format or another over the last couple of years ... Joe Mennie, Daniel Worrall, Kane Richardson, yet he (a top Shield wicket taker) consistently misses out.

Has he done something somewhere to have his file marked? Does Hohns have Double-D phobia?

And rightly so. He deserved to tour after being in or near the squad for much of the summer. Pretty pisspoor on the part of the NSP.

Not to cover for the NSP but isn't it something of a tradition that you find out via the media whether you're in or out?

I was more referring to the fact that he was dropped from the squad. The shit communication just compounds the matter.

As noted above, Hohns indeed told Sayers that he bowls too slowly. As was pointed out by scribes today, and was duly alluded to here, Philander's slow swingers have netted him approximately 180 wickets at around 22.
