Quick Quiz: "Get a Grip".

Note the high resolution.

Stop moaning. You can still see the grip. At their various stages of delivery.

Whose are these? (Top line 1,2, 3 - Bottom line 4, 5, 6)

Get out of it. You won't get any complimentary remarks on the spin-dryer of doom called The Bails. Julius Caesar suffered a better fate on his way to an older forum.

Correct on 1 and 5. 2 is a decent deduction (Grum delivered like he was tossing Mills bombs) but quite a bit more recent.

3 neither of you has gone for. It's an odd grip for an offie.

Another thing to come out of the recent PE & Jo'burg Tests, two brothers dismissed in the same over. The list (which I think horrie will be delighted with) is remarkably long.

Two brothers dismissed in the same Test over:

DR & RJ Hadlee (1st ball) by JA Snow
NZ v Eng, Nottingham, 1973

IM & GS Chappell (1st ball) by AME Roberts
Aus v WI, Adelaide, 1979-80

GW & A Flower (1st ball) by M Muralitharan
Zim v SL, Colombo(RPS), 1996-97

PA & BC Strang (2 runs/3 balls) by M Muralitharan
Zim v SL, Kandy, 1997-98

ME & SR Waugh (0 runs/2 balls) by Shahid Afridi
Aus v Pak, Karachi, 1998-99

ME & SR Waugh (1st ball) by Shoaib Akhtar
Aus v Pak, Colombo(PSS), 2002-03

ME & SR Waugh (1st ball) by Saqlain Mushtaq
Aus v Pak, Sharjah, 2002-03

SE & MR Marsh (4 runs/3 balls) by K Rabada
Aus v SAf, Port Elizabeth, 2017-18

SE & MR Marsh (0 runs/3 balls) by VD Philander
Aus v SAf, Johannesburg, 2017-18

A triv Q could gave been:

What unflattering thing do the Marsh brothers have in common with the Waugh brothers?

A: Both dismissed in the same over twice in a series.

Looks like he was using the thumb rather than the fingers to generate spin.  It would also be a good grip to get it to go the other way.

In the recent 4th Test in Jo'burg, Faf de Plessis made a first ball duck and a ton in the same Test (0 & 120).

This has happened at least 2 dozen times in Tests, but only twice has a player made over 150 and managed a first ball duck in the other innings.

Who achieved this?

150+ and first ball duck in the same Test:

Not a candidate for T20 ( Wink ), but a doughty and skilful bat. And must have been brave too, to withstand the onslaught that was the roster of Windy very-quicks.

Love the biker helmet!
