Totally ignored by CA but Tossie Charlie Wakim made a 160 run debut ton against SA.
Re: Australian Domestic Season 2018-19
I'm guessing this Wakim is the same bloke that played yesterday under the alias 'Charlie Wakeham'

Such a wasted opportunity by Nifty at Test level. Shame really.

Amazing collapse by the Jellies. They lost 6 wickets for three runs in 21 deliveries. Bird 7/59
Tas just need 65 runs to win.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2018-19
Dammit - Vixen are going to win as well after the Billies left them a generous chase.
Meanwhile, it appears that Australian batsmen can play against the Duke ball. Maybe it's just that they can't play against a Duke ball bowled by Englishmen.

Aye, excellent win by the Good Guys. Shame the Vomit grubs are about to get up, as are the Tozzies.

Excellent debut. The Jellies choked big time. Maybe they should change their initials they share with the Yarps.

Standard Vic's win. The Spiv somehow were awarded points for heating the bye.

In a Shield match. SRW's record is 649 v Qld in 1996. Bancroft got to 621 v Spivs.
MrsR becomes the first Shield player to face more than 550 balls in a match twice. The other was his WA record 567 balls against the Spivs in 2015.

That is surprising given the monster scores by Bradman and Ponsford and others back in the day.

Pinafore in particular played many huge Shield knocks. I suspect the balls faced records in his time were not kept.

And they generally only had time to bat once in those mammoth knocks.
Still, h could be right about balls faced records back then.

Re: Australian Domestic Season 2018-19
stoopid phone ... this time it made me ato correcting pinafore from Ponsford. The old champ would have knocked my block off.
Meanwhile the old Champ would have enjoyed seeing the Vics on top of the ladder.
Interesting Round next week with each match holding interest.
The Vix v Tozzies game always holds interest. The Tozzies have a chance to keep in the hunt for the final, while the Vics will be keen to get a win and stay top.
Bird is in good form and the Weed will be keen for more runs and to rub Kjnr's nose in the gravel. (Kjnr apparently* said Weed could score 2000 runs and not be considered for selection - thankfully Oz no longer has this lump of merde around)
Tremain, Puc and Ed Harris will want to keep their names up there in front of selectors. Two possible changes for the Vix are Siddle and Gotch out for OP if fit or another quick bowler with Harper to resume behind the stumps.
The Jellies v the Bye will be interesting as former try to get off the bottom. Hopefully the Hollow Man will return to skipper the Bye.
Match of the round could be the Billies v Spivs in Chip Central. the Billies will be keen for a win to stay in the race.

Actually going on minutes for the old games and looking at balls faced and minutes where available the scoring was probably quicker back then so fewer balls faced. Though comparing balls faced per minutes is a match to match proposition let alone era to era.
