Aust ODI Tour of England June 2018

Post by Big Dog on Tue 08 May 2018, 01:32

ODI squad: Tim Paine (c), Aaron Finch (vc), Ashton Agar, Alex Carey, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Nathan Lyon, Glenn Maxwell, Shaun Marsh, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, D’Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye

Jhye Richardson ? Marsh? Short? Stanslake?....what a bunch of duds.Short has only ever made runs in T20. Stanslake is actually injured from the IPL but still gets selected. Stanslake is fast but needs a sympathetic pitch to take wickets otherwise very expensive. Apart from Haze & Elmer the rest of the bowling is pretty pedestrian.

It looks as though Paine has been appointed ODI captain for this tour only. Leadership role after that would still appear to be still in the air.

Yes, ordinary, but probably close to the best side we can put on the park, based on BBL form. Yes, I know it's not T20.

Why Marsh and not his brother? Don't particularly the free ride they've been given but surely the other one is a better fit?

Lynn has gone the Crystal route and become a T20 'Specialist'.

Paine as captain is a placeholder for Mere.

A third of the team are East Praetorians.

I have zero interest in the series, beyond listening to cbnlg pressers where he will talk about the need to build an elite culture.

Any suggestions for best sandpaper taunts from pommy crowds on this tour? Cool

I'll start...

"Are you called Paine because of the sandpaper in your vagina?"

Tick tock, tick tock
Look what crawled from under a rock
Tick tock, tick tock
Little Warner ran amok
Tick tick tick, tock tock tock
No more moolah nor ads on the telly
Give him a beard and call him Ned Kelly
Tick tock, tick tock
His tears were a pile of croc
He's Oz's little gcspoc

Just saw an interview with The Stain after he made a ton in some scratch match v some X'ie crew. A good fella from all accounts and good to see a smile on his dial after a personally grim year for him.

Very average warmup game against Sussex. Only Stoinis & Finch made runs. K Richardson & Jelly were expensive albeit Jelly took three wickets. Short dropped Salt twice & he went on to top score.
