"Their Finest"?
Oui. I think it will have broad appeal.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
Just been to see Dunkirk.
Very little dialogue. The film relies on stunning visuals for most part.
Film starts with three different scenarios, Land, Sea & Air and as the film goes on all three are entwined. Its very skillfully done. Film is being touted for the Oscars but if it wins, it won't be for the acting. Some big names fill the roles but there is'nt much scope to show their skills. All they had to do for the whole film is look scared.
I would sum the film up as a great piece of eye candy. Well worth a look.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
I'll be going to this purely for the action component.
I won't expect character development!

Saw it tonight, and enjoyed it, especially the flying scenes.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
Dunkirk flattered to deceive for me.
Good cinematography as Big Dog has stated. I really enjoyed the in cokcpit Spitfire stuff, the vibrations, rattles and general mechanical noise felt pretty real and markedly different to the usual way WWII stuff is filmed.
That said I just didn't engage with any of the characters, didn't get enough to really empathise with.
Thought Kenneth Branagh played it well. If they ever do any WWII epic films (the likes of The Great Escape, Battle of Britain etc) then he is your man.
Spoiler alert - don't read on if you haven't seen it - the final Spitfire scene. That fcuker glided back and forth, had enough time to zap a fighter and land on the beach. In a film that seemed to be angling for realism I thought that Holywood ending sullied it a bit.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
Saw a docco on Buena Vista Social Club at Melb Film Festival. Absolutely terrific.
Enjoyed an old space cowboy movie called Serenity. Follows a one series show called Firefly.
Most enjoyable despite Nathan Fillion who acts with a lot of pork.
Some v cute tottie.

WAIT.
So Dello was always Fromage? WTF.
I feel like he's catfished the f*ck out of all of us.
Imagine logging into a forum for some hot Jimmy A chat and finding your beliefs and the very essence of reality crumbling to dust around you.
Now you're all going to tell me you all knew years ago...

Saw 'Gifted' yesterday and thought if was very well acted and treated a storyline which is almost one of the tropes of life with some perception and style.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
Watched the latest Jurassic World movie yesterday. As usual the visuals are spectacular, especially the erupting Volcano scene but they have plumbed the depths as far as the storyline goes. I won't spoil it for anyone thinking of going but be prepared to check your brain in at the door before entering the theatre. I'd give it 3/5 purely for the eye candy.

Re: Anyone seen any good movies recently?
Finally got to see Bohemian Rhapsody albeit on DVD. I can see why the critics hated it. Trying to squeeze the longevity of the band into a 90 minute movie was always going to leave holes however Rami Malek was brilliant as Freddie.
