Congratulations to the two latest full members of the ICC. Now eligible to play test cricket.

Best of luck to both countries. I don't expect any shocks in the Test arena for a good while - but there was, of course, a time when we didn't expect shocks from them in the short formats either.

If the other nations would be willing to put arrangements in place, their development could be helped by playing three or four 3-4 day games against the equivalent of our counties, a single test ahead of the "main series", then be the third side in a tri-nation one day trophy. Thoughts?

I guess they'll have fun playing the Zimbots & Bangers. Can't see them bothering anyone else anytime soon.

And that's an advantage they will have over Zim and B/desh too, in so far as the latter were far, far weaker than any other Test nation when they gained full ICC membership. Test matches between the four of them will at least be some semblance of a contest most of the time.

Wow!! Hearty congrats to both countries.

I didn't expect this so "early".

I can't imagine too many teams will be willing to fly into Kabul to play Test cricket any time soon.

Congrats to the Paddys, and Afghanis.
Wonder if we will see a Aus vs Ireland Test Match added on to the next away Ashes series.

Would be a similar pitch to Pune, a landmine to bat on.

Congrats to Afghanistan and Ireland. The speed of Afghanistan's rise has been remarkable.

It suggests to me that a two division test championship is getting closer.

I think it's already here. It might also be the demise of WI cricket with the Islands splitting into separate international teams.

To be honest, I think it's now got to the stage where the Islands of the West Indies going their separate ways might be the best thing for cricket in the region.

WI seems to be a defunct concept.
