Wow!!!! Amazing victory!!!
Looks like Pacman took a pummelling early but was coming home strong. Horn did enough in the first half of the fight to take the points in a unanimous decision. Congrats to the mighty Aussie underdog!!

Re: Boxing FFS
Looks like the Horn/ Pacquiao fight will be re-scored after a request from the Philippines Games and Amusements Board but the WBO reiterated its only hope of revoking the fight judges' decision rests on proving fraud in match officiating. Well, i suppose the Philippine Government knows a little bit about corruption.

Does anyone who knows anything about boxing and watched the fight have an opinion? I can't even be arsed finding out which system it was scored under.

Re: Boxing FFS
Not sure about the "system" but it was scored unanimously to Horn. All three judges had Horn well ahead after the first half of the fight, then Pacman came back and hit horn with a flurry of punches plus headbutts.
Just because Pacquiao landed more punches doesn't mean he won the fight.

Re: Boxing FFS
That's what I meant. Under one scoring system it does (I think). Though what's a scorable punch is also debatable.
Whatever. Horn should take the rematch and eight figures that come with it and win, lose or draw; retire, write a book and flog anything that come his way so he doesn't have to live off the purse.

Re: Boxing FFS
The re-score confirmed the result with Horn winning seven rounds against Pacquiao's five with two even.

I watched. It was a difficult one to score - Horn was so much bigger than Pacquiao - must have re-hydrated to abut 180lbs - and he was more rangy. He could rough up Manny and take those rounds from the judges.
Pacquiao had the better work rate in the second half of the fight, but also seemed to take his foot off the pedal.
Essentially, I think the re-score had it right - Horn the winner but much tighter.
The Yanks have been going apeshit, but they only like certain fighters.

Re: Boxing FFS
What a farce of a fight. As Eddie Mcguire said "Mundine's intro went longer than the fight." For those who blinked & missed it, Mundine took a dive in the first round to collect his $2.5M superannuation.
Re: Boxing FFS
Hope he was not too hurt. His speech patterns have changed for the worse over the years.
Most folk cannot abide Mundine. He has played the bad guy WWE role very well. Outside the palaver of boxing he is a damned good human being. Hopefully he does not enter the ring again.
I have met a number of boxers over the years. I was best mates with one who died ten years ago. Almost all of the older ones showed long term injury damage.
As a kid I was obsessed with cricket, footy and boxing. I had a go at each but was no good.
I am still mesmorised by boxing but would ban it in a heartbeat.
