Re: Cycling
Nibali wins Stage 19 & Chaves takes over the Pink Jersey for Orica-GreenEDGE. Tomorrow is the final mountain stage & it should be a beauty with those two plus Kruijswijk & maybe Valverde all battling to win the Giro.

Re: Cycling
After a dull first two weeks, the race exploded in the last. Brilliant win by Nibali.

Re: Cycling
Nibali clinches the Giro. Chaves did well to take second after being involved in a crash.
Re: Cycling
Contador has set the early pace in the Dauphine prologue with Porte second & Froome a long way back in third.
Re: Cycling
Think Froome should be fine, being only 13 seconds back. Pinot, surprisingly, was quite rubbish yesterday.

Re: Cycling
Froome edged out Porte for a stage win & takes the leaders jersey with Porte second & Yates third. Contador was disadvantaged by an accident in the peloton & is now 21 seconds off the pace.
Re: Cycling
Quite a few attempts by contador in each of the past couple of stages. But Froome comfortably the best in this race. Quintana will do the route du Sud, I guess.

Re: Cycling
Bad mistake by Porte. Let himself be boxed in with 500m to go & missed the sprint to the line. Cost him two places.
Re: Cycling
I guess discussion of the Vuelta will start hotting up sometime soon. Tomorrow? Monday? September 9?

Has Simon Clarke managed to get himself into a breakaway with 27km to go?
........... and it looks as though Rein Taaramae had to abandon after being cleaned up by a car. Originally reported as illness.

A much better performance from Quintana today compared to his efforts in the Tour de France.

Re: Cycling
Froome is unable to take any time off Nairo Quintana in the final mountain stage & so the Colombian will win the 2016 Vuelta. Froome will be second & Chaves third for Orica.

Re: Cycling
Really decent racing. Quite the season grand tour wise for both the top two riders. And what an absolute machine Valverde is.
Apart from that one day where Quintana and Contador escaped, Orica had a near flawless race tactically.
