Re: bump for skully thread
Nikki nailing the Banjos coffin shut.
Impressive stuff from the Viles top order in the 2nd innings. 70, 73, 63, 144* and 65* for 3-433 to be a lazy 481 in front.

Great commentary! Just stories and anecdotes, rather than commenting on the lifeless game.

Re: bump for skully thread
Why would they bother? If Qld can bat for 3 days for 900 in a Final, why wouldn't the Viles?

The format of the shield final needs to change. There's more often than not going to be dull cricket when one team only needs to draw the match in order to win the shield.

Re: bump for skully thread
I know that 611 SEEMS like a lot of runs to score in one day, but I think it can be done. Back in 1948 Australia scored 721 runs in a day against Essex, so I don't see why the Bulls can't make 611 in a day against the vile Vixen. Wade Townsend recently scored a triple century in grade cricket & he, along with most of his teammates, is due for a big score in a Shield match.
And you have to remember that these are Queenslanders, not spineless spivs. In 1994 everyone said Queensland couldn't win this game .... but they did!

Good theory...apart from the fact that Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeg has nothing to do with cricket, and the Billies have only scored 400+ in the fourth innings once before, and that total ended up being about 150 runs shy of this one.

Thank you. Yes, it is an excellent theory. I will pass on your message of support to the lads tomorrow morning. It will give them even more confidence in their quest for Shield glory.

Hey, it's all win win for me. Would be piss funny if the vomits choked another final, and I've got a lobster on them to win at $3...can't lose really

The shield final being deep sixed wouldn't be a disaster. Ever since the Banjos broke through to win one, there's been no need for it.

Congratulations Nath, Horrie & other Victorian forummers. Your cricket team is undoubtedly the best in Australia & fully deserve to win the 2009/10 Sheffield Shield.

It would have been a different story if James Hopes was able to bat in the second innings.

nicely put wide wally...the billies have found some very good young players...well played by both teams...
there is a podcast of nick jewell (vixtorious opener) giving a great speech before the team sing the team anthem...worth a listen on SEN
another great domestic season...far more interesting than the tests and the other international sideshows...(i note that both fleas and ollie scored runs after being demoted from their state teams to play the snoozies)
