Weird. Seems to go against the perceived momentum.
No exit polls coming because everyone was too tight to pay for one. We'll only know when we know.
Twitter hugely Yes-centric. 75:25 split at least.
Record turn out, massive number of first time voters (including 16 and 17 year olds). I think the youth will decide it.
Re: UK politics thread
But what % of the Scot population have Twitter? 30%?

Re: UK politics thread
YouGov pollsters - the supposed word in opinion polls - give it to the Nos 54:46 based on repolling their respondents after the official polls close.
Does that mean anything? Time will tell.
In the betting, No is offering 1/16.

Re: UK politics thread
YouGov president (president! Get over yourself, man) Peter Kellner announces that he's "99% certain" of a No win.
He's going to have one eggy face if he's wrong...

No real appetite for it in Wales.
It'd take them a decade even to put together a basic infrastructure to govern.
Re: UK politics thread
Looks like it's all over red rover for the yes'. 54-46. And Australia doesn't need 75% to change it just needs a majority of votes in a majority of states. Though admittedly most referendums would be 75% overall. Even some unsuccessful ones were probably 75%. Shame about the medieval states.

Dello is waaaay off the pulse of today's Britain. He's like Vicky Pollard in high heels.

Just keeping up my unblemished record of never knowingly being right about anything.

Nah, you did alright with the bollockless Indians, didn't you? I think that maybe you're just in touch with foreigners. Maybe you should be a consul or some such, rather than a millionaire.
Re: UK politics thread
So Scotland's escape bid fails, and the UK remains the United Kingdom rather than the Untied Kingdom. It would have been interesting to see what GB might have been called without Scotland, too ... Little Britain?
Once again the noisy Titterverse shows itself to be composed mainly of chattering Chardonnay socialists busily patting each other on the back, but totally unrepresentative of the general population. It's just like the Q&A audience here in Ozland, and the Q&A twitter stream in particular.

Let's face it, colonial outposts don't want to be rid of the motherland. I'm sure plenty of countries want back in if we'd let them. It's just the way we are. Loved by all.

That was back when Cook wasn't quite a qunt... ahh, good times. Giles Clarke, eh? Typifies the haughty British qunt. I would love to thrash him with a pool ball in a sock. I reckon I even prefer David Cameron, who typifies the haughty British qunt, to Clarke. That's really saying something.
Re: UK politics thread
Please God we don't end up with an English Parliament - we need another layer of government like we need a hole in the head.

We can achieve that through the existing H of C - no need for a separate assembly full of career politicians trying to justify their existence.

Don't see how it would work without some seperate rep body, for England at least.

I gave up watching Q&A because I just couldn't cop the continued filtered stream of unabashed Pinko love tweets blurbing across the bottom of the screen. Aunty's bias these days is just pathetic. And Tony Jones is a dickhead.
