Re: AFL 2018
Great and perhaps unexpected win to the black and whites today! American Pie proved some doubters wrong again and the blond brigade was prominent.

I had hoped until today that that was not the case. Aberration or true form?

Congratulations to Collingwood and to a lesser extent Melbourne on playing a game that didn't make Midsomer Murders look more entertaining....a low but rarely cleared bar for AFL2018

Fred you're getting a bit bittered and twisted just as some Russian chick is putting her rack out there. Priorities man.

I think you've gone out on a limbo there.

It actually was an entertaining game today, something of an aberration maybe in this over-coached era.

I watched the coaches go down the slide into an ice bath. Great fun.
Clarko, Horse and Ross Lyon were particularly funny.

Cyril Rioli has left for Darwin on indefinite leave. His future may be under a cloud. Suns have asked for retention allowance, cash and a priority pick. Surely the AFL will one day have to concede it erred here. Lethal warned them that Qld could only accommodate one club and that nothing had succeeded on the Gold Coast in terms of sports clubs in national comps.
Mitch McGovern apparently wants to come to Vic.

Re: AFL 2018
The garbage below was from The West ....although it reads like something Titus O'Reiily might tap out
Margetts certainly took up the challenge to make the AFL look stupid
.........
The AFL umpiring appointments for Thursday night’s match at Optus Stadium indicate that the league is supremely confident the alleged home crowd free kick bias in Perth doesn’t exist.
The Eagles’ ability to receive free kicks against visiting teams became a hot topic of conversation after a 25-12 count against St Kilda in round 11.
Excluding the derby, that took their season free kick tally at Optus Stadium this season to 150-101.
The noise of affirmation has been widely discussed as a potential reason for the lopsided count as huge crowds put pressure on umpires to pay certain decisions.
But the AFL’s response has been to appoint three West Australians to officiate in the match between West Coast and Essendon at Optus Stadium.
Experienced WA whistleblowers Dean Margetts and Jeff Dalgleish will be joined by another local, Nathan Williamson, and South Australian Craig Fleer.
While the decision could raise eyebrows, it could be the answer to the problem.
The Eagles have played two home games this season where two West Australians have umpired and the free kick tally from those matches is 41-38.
The stats from matches where only one local blew the whistle is 53-31. It is 56-32 in games where no West Australian has umpired.
The Bombers have been on the wrong end of free kick tallies this season and will enter the game at 229-251.
We’re anticipating the free kick stats could attract more attention than anything else that happens in the game.

Looks like it will be De Stayey.
Just in case you were in danger of thinking that AFL footballers were rocket scientists.
'Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like
Norman Einstein'
(Mick Malthouse - Collingwood).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'I'm going to graduate on time, no matter how long it takes.'
(Peter Bell - Fremantle - on his University Law studies).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'You guys line up alphabetically by height.' and 'You guys pair up in
groups of three, then line up in a circle.'
(Barry Hall Sydney Captain at training)..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Brock Maclean ( Melbourne ) on whether he had visited the Pyramids
During his visit to Egypt :
'I can't really remember the names of the clubs that we went to.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(THIS IS PRICELESS!!!!)
'He's a guy who gets up at six o'clock in the morning regardless of
what time it is.'
(Kevin Sheedy on James Hird).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jonathan Brown, on night Grand Finals vs Day Games
'It's basically the same, just darker.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ron Barassi talking about Gary Cowton 'I told him, 'Son, what is it
With you. Is it ignorance or apathy?'
He said, 'Barass, I don't know and I don't care.' (HYSTERICAL)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barry Hall ( Sydney ) when asked about the upcoming season:
'I want to kick 70 or 80 goals this season, whichever comes first.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Luke Hodge - the 21 year old, who turned 22 a few weeks ago'
(Dermott Brereton).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Chad had done a bit of mental arithmetic with a calculator.'
(Mark Williams).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At least this one could have been ironic?
'We actually got the winning goal three minutes from the end but then
they scored.'
(Ben Cousins, West Coast Eagles).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'I've never had major knee surgery on any other part of my body.'
(Luke Darcy).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'That kick was absolutely unique, except for the one before it which
was identical.'
(Dermott Brereton).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Sure there have been injuries and deaths in football - but none of
them serious.'
(Adrian Anderson).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same
thing again.
(Andrew Demetriou).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'I would not say he (Chris Judd) is the best centreman in the AFL but
there are none better.' (Dermott Brereton).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'I never comment on umpires and I'm not going to break the habit of a
lifetime for that prat.' (Terry Wallace).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Garry Lyon : 'Have you ever thought of writing your autobiography?'
David Swartz: 'On what?'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Well, either side could win it, or it could be a draw.'
(Dermott Brereton)

Re: AFL 2018
Barry Hall was sacked overnight by Triple M after a somewhat dodgy blokey comment during pre-game commentary last night. It went like this:
Leigh Montagna (discussing his wife's impending birth): The obstetrician has a little feel and makes sure it's starting to dilate, and puts a couple of fingers up...
Other panelists and Montagna: Awwwwww, haw, haw, haw...
Barry Hall: Joey (??) was a bit disturbed because the doctor was a good looking rooster about 40 years of age, and he did the sweep with his fingers then licked his fingers...
Others: Awwwww, haw, haw, haw.....
WTF were Montagna and Hall thinking??
