Watched his best 50 wickets in Aus last night. What a genius.

Re: A Week Of Warnie
Anybody ever heard of anybody (except Warnie) referring to Ian Chappell as 'Chaps'?
I'm loving all the old match footage, most of which I haven't seen since the day it was shot

Re: A Week Of Warnie
Particularly enjoyed the 97-98 Test Aus v SAf at the SCG tonight.
I remember that match vividly, as I do all the Boxing Day and New Year Tests from years gone by. I'm always at my folks place in Port Macquarie at that time of year and invariably these Tests always deliver.
Warnie was clearly a legend, but mostly he had to work hard for his wickets, with the occasional peach. But every now and then, he'd hit an irresistible rhythm that produced mesmerising spells. This Sydney Test was one of those instances when he just had the opposition in a trance. He took 5-13 in the 2nd innings and was almost unplayable. Drizzle intervened before he got his 6th (Kallis) for his 300th. He got 11 in that match.
My old man died in 2007 about 4 months after Warnie retired. He said to me near the end he was so grateful to have seen Warnie's career in its entirety. I said "Amen Dad".

No. Wish he'd just shut up.
Watching Warnie is like watching a sleazy music video from the 90's, where the hot young female singer, attired in skimpy high cut hot pants and a see through sequin top, is filmed from below, gyrating to her 'music' ... utterly unbearable with the sound above zero, but compulsive watching with the sound off..

A nice analogy.
Warnie as a cricketer = legend.
Warnie as a person = bogan.

Decided not to watch because I can't stomach him. He doesn't look like himself anymore because of all the work he has had done on him.
Was amused the other day when he admitted he was no Einstein after trying to help Summer with her schoolwork at home.

That was Steve Waugh's 100th Test too. Donald's second new ball spell to the Waugh's in that match - after they had put on about 150 odd and Aust were cruising - was the best passage of Test cricket I have ever seen live. If you have 10 minutes, check it out below Mark pretty much gave up once he reached 100, Steve toughed it out and saw off that spell only to be bowled later in the innings by one of the fastest balls I've ever seen. Mesmerising cricket.

Jesus that's become tedious from Warnie. We heard you the first time, Shane.
Credit to Tugga for never responding. Privately he must think "What a dickhead".
Shane Warne is the Donald Trump of Aus cricket.

Re: A Week Of Warnie
Seems a Nine reporter sought out Tugga today for a comment.
Tugga's response - “People keep saying it’s a feud, but to me, a feud’s between two people. I’ve never brought into it, so it’s just one person."
“His comments are a reflection of himself, nothing to do with me,” he said. “That’s all I’d say.”
Touche. TGM is still sooking about his 1999 dropping in the WI.

Re: A Week Of Warnie
Heard an interview with some bloke called Moody who has put together video of around 100 times Waugh was involved in run outs. Apparently* Waugh was the survivor in 73 or of these times.
The bloke is a huge fan of Ksnr and seemed embarrassed by what it shows.
There is no narrator or interviews. Goes for over an hour.

Re: A Week Of Warnie
I've watched it ... about half the run-outs were the fault of the other bloke, often a rabbit, a ferret, or an apres-ferret. Some were futile but team-focused attempts to take a single or second run on the last ball of an ODI.
Run out by run out analysis would show that SRW was not at fault any more than his partner, and possibly less so.
Didn't stop Warne being a complete knob about it ... don't join him, horrie.

Warnie's only redeeming off field trait is his contempt for Waugh.

Re: A Week Of Warnie
Wall-to-wall Warnie would be a great form of torture.
No footage. Just talking head.
As soon as he got to Michael Clarke, any victim would yell: "I surrender. I am guilty. I will sign anything. But take it away ... I BEG OF YOU, TAKE IT AWAY!!"

I was in the car listening to the radio. The Pom's derision in the commentary box as he came on to bowl did a bloody 180 degree turnaround as they called the Gatting ball.
