Fortunately h, I only had to look at the thread title and the poster to know this had to be either an old dig at MS or a new dig at qm3. Turns out it was both!!

No argument from me PJ, although I would've happily flicked him during that barren run in 1997. I guess it's testiment to the man's character that he not only came good but then matched DGB's then top score for Aus.

Meh, I still think that was just circumstance h. I think Tubby would've happily taken the record the night before but failed, and then didn't want to look like a complete selfish dick by batting on the next morning for one personal run.horace wrote:and refused to pass it....unlike a certain ftb and if he had the ability a certain Koala
Any suggestion that he deliberately finished on the same score as DGB out of respect is utter bulltwang, AFAIC.

Yup. He is possibly the gratest diplomat to ever lead the Aus side. A great skill indeed.

He should be off Channel 9 screens soon enough if he gets the job of Cricket Australia chairman.
He was a very good captain indeed.

Chappell has it for life. When he went on record as supporting the refugees who were locked up, Channel Nine looked at terminating his contract. Apparently it was watertight.

Interesting that the Great Warthog water-cannon-tested his contract for that episode, but didn't for dropping the f-word on air, or for being serially boring and self-indulgent any time in the last 30 years....
