Why is it whenever we go on overseas tours we get the shittiest FC wickets in the warm-up games?

Because everyone wants to stuff the English... Rolling Eyes

Sri Lanka 1.79
England 4.1
Draw 4.6

Odds for the 1st test

SL 2.18
Eng 5.5
Drw 2.68

1.79 - not as good as the evens (2.00) offered on Saturday at Laddies.

Still, it's guaranteed returns for your shekels ... you can 'bet' there's a juicy little strip being prepared for the chucker next week!

Odds for england for one test are alright.

I wouldn't back many draws in Sri Lanka that aren't rain affected, the pitches usually have a bit more in it than places like pakistan.

So, England win by 5 wickets.

Anderson got back on the pitch and wrap their innings up, still don't think I'd pick him or Harmison.

Looks like everyone got time in the middle 2nd innings (apart from Bell who is so good he doesn't need it)

Once again though no batsman showing the ruthlessness to get a big score, which tends to infest itself in our cricket.

More worryingly, Jehan Mubarak took 3 wickets - isn't he a batsman!!?

Ok, im going to jump on the bandwagon here and say that both Shah and Bopara should play and Bell should be dropped. Hasnt made a run since arriving in Sri Lanka, whilst Shah and Bopara- 2 players with a repuatation of playing spin well, have both made handy contributions. My England team for saturday-

Cook
Vaughan(c)
Shah
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bopara
Prior+
Swann
Hoggard
Sidebottom
Panesar

3 seamers plus Colly and Bop's dobbers in SRI LANKA?! Either the pitch is looking like being a real English style green seamer, or they're mad.

Because Augustus is a bitter Notts fan and is bitter about Kevin Pietersen. He's so bitter he uses the phrase 'but like the Murphys' to try and convince the world of his cordial attitude.

Which is why Pietersen's my favourite batsman and I have a background including Pietersen on the PC, I suppose.

It's an incredibly arrogant shot that has got him out three times in the last six months.

Once to Gayle in a Test Match.
Once to Zimbabwe in the Twenty20.
Once to Vettori in the Twenty20.

I don't disagree with playing it when you're 100*, and it's a thrilling shot, but when you're short of form chasing a potentially morale-boosting victory ahead of an arduous Test Series against SL, I think not.

That arrogance is part of KP's game though, and that arrogance also won us the Ashes at the oval after looking like we might fcuk it up at lunch

What you do on your PC is your business. It wouldn't be the first love/hate infatuation there's ever been.

It must be the flu, but I could quite happily see Bell dropped with the exotic takents of Shah and Bopara waiting in the wings.

Bell's not very exotic - except in an elfen denizen of the fairy world sort of way.

Having Kevin Pietersen PC wallpaper is wrong on several levels.

Agree with you JK about not playing 2 spinners, but think you wrong regarding Broad. Anderson's the man in posession & he'll start instead of Swann.

I wouldn't put it past them to pick that team though.

So why has Swann's stock fallen as quickly as it rose? Did he show up for this tour unfit or something?

I don't think its fallen but word is they don't want a Colly/Bopara combo bowling 1st change.

Personally i'd go with Swann, I think the attack is in danger of becoming samey.

But it's pretty likely that the pitch will be a raging turner- They'll certainly want Murali to break the world record in his home town of Kandy.

Owais Shah's FC record on this tour: 59.00
Ian Bell's FC record on this tour: 3.5

I know it's only one match, but I still can't work out why everyone within the England set-up seems to regard Bell as an untouchable. I think I'm right in saying Bell didn't pass fifty during the ODI series in Sri Lanka just gone too. Batting three.

Oh well - the series won't be won or lost by who bats six for England, I'm sure. Teeny-Bops will do all right.

I'm not sure it's everyone.
More specifically I'd point to Vaughan - and it has sod all to do with form more whom he takes a shine to.
The Yorkie has always sung Dinga's praises - continues to do so, and whilst he remains captain, Dinga will always play.
Sadly the England management lack the balls to challenge Vawn's myopic views .... a weak trait IMO.

It will be an absolute bloody travesty if Bell and Bopara get picked ahead of Shah (my Middlesex allegiance aside) as the guy has done nothing wrong since pulling on an England shirt 'cept put in the graft.
