Apparently Compo asked the Guardian's Andy Bull to interview him back in 2011 in order to help push his test case-

Quite why he imagined England might to turn to him I couldn't quite figure, given that he was 27 at the time and hadn't done all that much to distinguish himself in his county career."

I wonder why Bull would choose to not so subtly reveal this now?

not sure it is 'interesting'...but it does seem this tactic is recommended on Page 1 of the Nob Playbook...

various Oz players - mostly from nsw - have long used it as a medium to press their case when their performances clearly do not

players like the koalas, bung, fleas and schoolgirl were masters of the media push

Strange that the only players who used the media are those horrie doesn't like.

it is one of the reasons I am not a fan

maybe it is mainlly an Australian thing.
