Interesting.....
Apparently Compo asked the Guardian's Andy Bull to interview him back in 2011 in order to help push his test case-

"Eighteen months or so ago a cricketer emailed me to ask whether I'd be interested in setting up an interview with him because he felt that he was being unjustly overlooked by the Test selectors. He wanted the chance to press his case in the papers. An awkward moment, that. "Join the queue, because it is you and me too," I thought to myself, though that wasn't what I told him at the time. Quite why he imagined England might to turn to him I couldn't quite figure, given that he was 27 at the time and hadn't done all that much to distinguish himself in his county career."
"As for that county player who emailed to ask about the interview, well, he's now opening the batting for England. Which just shows how quickly fortunes change. And how wrong I was."
I wonder why Bull would choose to not so subtly reveal this now?

Re: Interesting.....
not sure it is 'interesting'...but it does seem this tactic is recommended on Page 1 of the Nob Playbook...
various Oz players - mostly from nsw - have long used it as a medium to press their case when their performances clearly do not
players like the koalas, bung, fleas and schoolgirl were masters of the media push
