England v Australia, 2nd Test, Lords, 18-22 July, 2013
T1 was an Ashes classic. Can the fantastic cricket continue at the home of cricket?
Changes?
Eng - Brezzy for Finn?
Aus - Uzzy for Moo? Rhino for Koo? A spot for Elmer?

Did we not agree to use real names where our international forummers might not know nicknames?

Likely to be a bore draw, if the collective batting units can put their shit together. Lord's is always a deady. It's all pants, apart from 'the occasion'.

I said on the 1st test thread, that I'd have Bresnan in for Finn, but it appears his stats there make ugly reading - 5/330 to be precise. Can't see Onions getting a game - he might bowl wicket-to-wicket but he's doing at a significantly lower pace than when he was in his pomp.

For Aus to have any chance, we need the brilliant Jimmeh to pull a hammy. He is a thing of beauty ATM.

Cowan out.
I still like Bird in. Probably for Starc.

Agree. Uzzy for Moo. Most journo's seem to be plugging for Bird.

Nice thought, MrK, but the Pup factor would probably prevent that happening.
Just shows how poorly Fleas was treated. Clearly still good enough to be playing Tests for Aus, but jetisonned ridiculously early. Probably should have played at least another 30 Tests for Aus.

England have plenty to address. Jonny B's unsuitability for Test cricket should be top of the agenda, but I imagine only Finn's shocking form will be discussed.
Replacements are wafer thin on the ground.

Re: England v Australia, 2nd Test, Lords, 18-22 July, 2013
Shirley Finn must go. Chef seemed to begrudgingly give him a bowl last night, only for the poor bugger (probably confidence shot) to get smashed in 2 overs.
Aus has to stiffen the top order. The concentration-waning Twat will probably stay, and Rogers looked good, but Cowan must go. His dismissal before Tea on Day 4 was possibly (Broad's "dismissal" notwithstanding) the difference. Another 20 or 30 from him after Tea would've made all the difference.
If the forecast is continued "hot" weather, I can't see Bird being a threat. In which case, I'd give Rhino a go over Koo.

The point is that you can't all even agree on the same nicknames.

Starc underperformed with the ball and was disappointing with the bat given his credentials. He appears to be more effective with the white ball at this stage. Would be happy with Harris or Bird depending on conditions but maybe lean to the latter if he's fit because he so rarely is and has the benefit of experience to support Pattinson. Ussie should replace Cowan. It's ridiculous to have a guy at first drop who doesn't really have shots or the technique and ability to convincingly hold down that position.

I think the Australian pace attack looked as though they went into the match "undercooked".
Remember the good ole days when there was about 7 FC matches before the first test? Bowlers had plenty of opportunity to find their rhythm. This year, all three were well down on pace & got on to the batsman's legs too often. I'm sure they will improve with more bowling.

What about rotation?
