We have to wait a week for the 4th India v Oz Test and the now important Sri Lankan v Snoozers matches.
This one scarcely registers. Interesting to see Rabada back in the wickets after his very ordinary tour of Australia.

They have a relatively young fiery pace attack but their batting is appalling. Inauspicious outing for Bavuma as skipper with a pair.

Tubby managed a pair on his captaincy debut & that worked out okay.

Starts today. I hope the Windies can produce a more consistent batting effort.

They need to produce a decent bowling effort first!
South Africa have started very well, and if it goes on much longer, the Windies will be out of the game by the end of day 1.

Markram went big again, just missing another ton. Bavuma didn't get a duck.

A decent comeback by the Windies though - at one stage the Sith were 1-192, before finishing 7-311 with wickets shared. They may have found a good 'glue' spinner in Motie, and Mayers has a very useful knack of picking up wickets in Tests ... I think that's over 30 Test poles now at an average below 20.

Good to see Jason Holder regain some batting form in tests with 81*. Prior to today, he had played 20 consecutive innings without a fifty.

Watched a bit of this last night. Coetzee looks pretty swift and fiery and he is only 22, so they may have found another one. With Nortje injured and Jansen rested, their stock of quicks is low this match.

Yeah, well played the Nodster… wasn’t he once ranked #1 Test all-rounder? Whereas the above stat suggests a Broad-level decline with the bat.WideWally wrote:Good to see Jason Holder regain some batting form in tests with 81*. Prior to today, he had played 20 consecutive innings without a fifty.

Yet another test century for Temba Bavuma. Well done!

Maharaj looks to have done himself serious damage celebrating the sixth wicket after a DRS decision, stretchered off as the teams departed for lunch.
Yarps two bowlers down, can they defend this?

Yes the Maharaj incident looked strange.
SA bowling was depleted but Coetzee came back on the field and was bowling very rapidly, hitting Holder in the groin and taking three wickets. Windies would probably have fallen for under a ton had Rabada taken a catch on the boundary.
Markram man of the series, Bavuma man of the match.

Brief bit of resistance from Noddy and Token White Guy but it was all over pretty quickly. Nothing different to what we’ve expected for 20 years or so from them now (except against England when they still find superpowers, I still blame Tony Greig…)
