The 'edge' in Punter's post-match speech
His voice carried an edge but it was also what he said which was instructive.
He mentioned having too many passengers in the team.
A need for a change of personnel.
The fact that MJ taking more wickets today would have been nice.
His observation that all Australia's wickets were down to their own poor shot-making and none due to the SA bowling.
His bemoaning of the fact that Perth has lost its character and they might as well be playing in Adelaide when here.
He sounded an angry little man.
AB btw, thought Jesus Christ helped him over the line.

I thought this comment about MJ having been the standout bowler for some time was pretty telling.

Didn't see his speech, but surely not! The ball Harris got him with was a gem. Short memory.Red wrote:His observation that all Australia's wickets were down to their own poor shot-making and none due to the SA bowling.

I'm beginning to tire of some of the snide remarks Punter makes concerning his teammates in these situations.

It's called buck passing, and has always been Ponting's main trait when he's had his arse handed to him.

He really is an appalling captain in almost every way. Great batsman but he doesn't have a clue when he doesn't have two ATG bowlers.

The funny thing is that Ponting has been a "passenger" for the last six tests.
He's averaging 33 for the summer.

Johnson had a great test.
Passengers in this test:
Hayden
Ponting
Hussey
At least Krejza and Siddle got some runs.

I didn't know Ponting was a U2 fan, but I guess he must be if he mentioned their guitarist in his post match speech.

You know things are bad in Aussie when Hussey get's called a passenger!

Wish the England captain was as brutally honest.

I find it hilarious that the media/tv stations are suggesting that Brett Lee could be dropped for Boxing Day.

Ponting needs a jerk to get him and AUS back on track.

Obviously the news editors don't know how to read a sponsorship contract.

If Ponting hadn't faffed around with stupid field placings, that Sooky mistimed hook would have been swallowed by a regularl sqauare leg and Aust would have won easily.

Re: The 'edge' in Punter's post-match speech
After the 2005 Ashes, SKW hinted, in a hypothetical fashion, that giving him the captaincy would give him an incentive to play on until he's 40, as apart from that, he'd pretty much achieved everything he could achieve.
Fk that's looking like a good deal now.
