The BCCI doesn't pay taxes, why shoudl SRT be any different?

After the Ferrari incident this comes as a rough spot a second time for SRT. TO & SG might still find enough reasons to defend this though.....

Yep, he'd be having trouble at paying a lakh of rupees after being the highest tax paying sportsman in India for god knows how many years.

That lakh of rupees was basically a tax cess that was supposed to be told to him by his dealer.

ADA too have many such entries in that list. So does AB.

tabloid journalism. the new bombay authorities have sent notices to around 100,000 car owners for not paying a 1% cess. this is supposed to be collected by the car dealer on sale of the car, most citizens wouldnt know about it. other taxes on cars amount to 20% which were paid by all, so i doubt all those car owners deliberately tried to avoid just a 1% cess. even anil ambani has been sent a notice. the man is worth $20 billion, i doubt he would evade a few thousand dollars worth of taxes

they are claiming this 1% cess on all transactions within the last year. major banks have been sent notices for collection amounting to crores. seems no one knew about this cess

Got to say including Tendulkar's name on that tax 'defaulters' list must've made the Mumbai municipal authorities a very searchable man on Google all across globe.

Cess is basically a short form of assess.

It is a surcharge, a tax on tax.

To us helpless middle class who end up paying the most taxes, it is 'exCESS'...tax over tax....
