Who is the slowest bowler in the world?
We all talk about speed, pace and mileage of the quickest of quick bowlers. But what about the slowies?
It's similar to dancing. The slowy is dying out to the quick and happening bee-bop rituals of techno and hard funky monkey house music.
Which bowlers are the slowest?
Someone on Yahoo said that Nathan Astle bowled the slowest ball ever recorded.

Ali Cook is listed on cricinfo as 'right arm slow'. No spin....nothing.....just slow.

Was it Jeremy Snape who bowled that "moon ball"? Not sure what speed it was clocked at, I would guess around 40mph...

Chris Harris had enough time to run to the batting crease, put his batting gear on and hit his.

I think it's difficult to isolate one consistently slowest bowler.
Variable speed is all part of what The Cat calls "F & G".

Speaking of Chris Harris, I think it is disrespectful of Wikipedia to describe Mr Harris as they have done even if it is true. He was just trying his best. And they also have incorrect spelling of mediocre.

One wonders how you ended up reading a Wiki entry on Chris Harris, W? More Jay Miaow research?

The Underarm would have taken the longest time to reach the batsman of any single ball I have seen or heard about

Actually, a friend of mine was telling me about a dog called Zinzan Brooke who had impressed him at various Victorian tracks but he wondered about how he got his name. I told him that I thought it was the name of a New Zealand Rugby Union player & checked out the Wikipedia entry. On that page, it stated that he was a distant relative of Zin Harris, Chris Harris, etc. Apparently, many members of the family had Zinzan in their name. So naturally, I clicked on the link to Chris Harris in the hope of reliving some of his incredible performances on the cricket field.

Naturally. Hehehe.
I'm also amazed at your lardy/embee-like memory for relevant FB threads. This one hadn't been used since July 2010!! Or was "slowest bowler" a logical jump to Chris Harris?!!

I read somewhere that in the 19th century at least (not sure about earlier) some bowlers got up a lot of speed underarm. They weren't all lobsters.
A quick goog reveals this chap: https://wiki2.org/en/George_Brown_%28Sussex_cricketer,_born_1783%29
Oh, hang on - look at the linked bit in this entry (18th century!) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Harris_%28English_cricketer%29
I suppose everything is relative - esp speed. If they'd trapped Jack Gregory's fingers against the handle, he might not have bowled again.
