Fine sentiments Ricky, but.......
Looks like drunky doesn't like the player 'exodus' from Ireland to England
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/ireland/8744423.stm
A whole 2 but lets still claim its an exodus!
If they qualify through residence, they qualify Ricky.
And the 'keep losing there best players' line is a bit silly. It's happened twice, to the 2 most modern outstanding players Ireland have ever produced......
Engage brain Ricky, both Joyce and Morgan may be Irish but they both came up through the English county system. There is no farking Irish FC system.

I'm very sympathetic to countries like Ireland that could keep losing their best players. It's something that I feel shouldn't happen

I think the ICC should be worried about that as far as trying to develop countries like Ireland and having some of their best young players poached, even in county cricket

Not that I'm a fan of the drunk, but you're being a tad harsh in some of this JKL.
If they qualify through residence, they qualify Ricky.

Bu then again, you Poms have never been fussy about where your Test players come from, so I can understand the paranoia when anyone says anything about it.

And leaving out this bit
Cutting out the 'could' changes the context of what the idiot said considerably.I think the ICC should be worried about that as far as trying to develop countries like Ireland and having some of their best young players poached, even in county cricket

removes a bit more of the context.some BBC hack wrote:Fast bowler Boyd Rankin, who has 20 ODI caps with Ireland, has also been identified by England after he was selected in the ECB's enhanced England performance programme that trained in the United States over the winter.
Bu then again, you Poms have never been fussy about where your Test players come from, so I can understand the paranoia when anyone says anything about it.

Re: Fine sentiments Ricky, but.......
But Punter seems to be unaware of Ed Joyce's latest decision.

Cricket Ireland has confirmed that batsman Ed Joyce wants to resume his international career with Ireland five years after declaring for England.
Ireland are hoping the 31-year-old will be available for the 2011 World Cup but he will need special ICC dispensation.

[this is rachel]
he can be the one to tell the irish players that they can only play county cricket as overseas players.
perhaps everyone should aim to emulate the racial purity of the australian national team?

zat's "paranoia" seems "a tad harsh" too. Or is that "hysterically OTT"?
Lever was making points about which you may or may not agree.
Calmly enough, I think, though a bit nettled by the familiar namby-pamby mingey-whingey style Punter almost invariably seems to adopt ... when he's nettled.

hmmn...the english have been pillaging Ireland and other colonies for centuries to prop up their own...why should cricket be different...the composition of imports in the English side is tantamount to an admission that the locals are simply not good enough
