Re: Is Jonathan Trott a great English batsman?
B Richards is a special case due to Jaapan's exclusion.
Some of the things he did in first class cricket and WSC were more than remarkable.

Henry wrote:Same with Barry Richards. People have no problem calling him a great batsman, despite the fact he only played something like 15 tests.
Or something like 4.

I think that Richards four tests against Aus at an average of 72.57 suggests he might have been slightly better than Hick and Ramprakash.

If I call him an "overrated leg side favouring crab":
a) it'd proably be wrong
b) he'll probably score 600+ v us in Ashes 2013

He favours the leg side. Bowling outside off, he favours the off side. The man is currently quite imperious.
Re: Is Jonathan Trott a great English batsman?
And he's not suspect against left arm spin.

He is dodgy against decent spin, though, I reckon. Fortunately decent spin is scant around the world at the minute.

Two Pakistani blokes. Did something naughty. Everyone cried like little girls because they f*cked a couple of balls up on purpose. It was like they murdered children, then disappeared into the ether. The reality is those people should get over themselves (hi forum), which is pretty easy to do if one breathes slowly and deeply into a brown paper bag, cans the hysteria and just puts it into context a little. It would help everyone.

And called into question the legitimacy of pretty much every "unlikely" cricketing feat before and after. They (and other cricketers from Pakistan and perhaps other countries) may or may not have actually thrown matches. But it's a slippery slope. And will the truth ever come out? Some people know the truth, but we've been there before. Cronje, Woolmer - accident? natural causes? Maybe...Brass Monkey wrote:Two Pakistani blokes. Did something naughty. I disagree. I don't think it does call into question the legitimacy of anything. I'm in no way condoning it, but I reckon it's a pretty big step from giving away a couple of measly runs to throwing an entire match from sustained underperformance. As for the rest of it, I'm afraid my imagination is not strong enough to be able to sustain such conspiracy theories.

Whoa - remember when vilks posted that picture of himself? Put some long hair on him, make him a vegetarian ("vegetable rights and peace")...
Re: Is Jonathan Trott a great English batsman?
When I think of vilks, I can only think of that strange face he's pulling hence I assume that's how he looks every minute of the day. It's probably hard to clean one's teeth like that, but I sure he must just manage.
