Obvious choice IMO.
Rohit should also play ahead of Dravid

Re: Oh dear!
yuvraj is always the obvious choice when an odi series precedes a test series. he is also the obvious choice for getting dropped when a test series is over. he has played 23 tests, 13 of them without a break in 2005-06 and is increasingly unfit. the worst part about him is he is a lazy, arrogant prick who cant adapt his game
how many 'last chances' does he deserve?

It's amazing how quick Indian forummers are to write off some of their players as no good. No doubt there were several forummers on here saying that Ishant Sharma would never make it after his first, no ball filled test against Bangladesh.

Re: Oh dear!
The start of Sharma's career wasn't encouraging. If I remember right on his first foreign tour (Ireland, I believe it was) he bowled 17 no balls in one ODI. Luckily for him, those were not the days of free hits. Must say though, his progress is impressive making him India's premier bowler today. He'll probably replace RP Singh in Kanpur.Henry wrote:It's amazing how quick Indian forummers are to write off some of their players as no good. Re: Oh dear!
Just what I predicted in my thread about Yuvraj being an Ultimate JAMODI FTB after he got in his 1st 100 this series. It looked in the cards.....
What is it about Indian selectors always mixing up one day specialists for test spots and ?

It's not been a quick reaction to Yuvi, IMO. I had been very hopeful for the guy early on, and as far as I know so have most Indian fans/ forummers here.
It's just that he seems to be utterly, completely clueless when the going gets even a little hard in Tests. And has been over and over again.
I would love for him to show the same form in the longer versions. Because, the day he gets going in Tests will be the day I start to believe that India really has a decent shot at becoming # 1 in Tests (and we're discounting his exploits on flat tracks vs. Pakistan).
But he has disappointed too much; shown the type of incompetence at such a basic level that you begin to wonder. Looking at his performances in Tests, it's not as though you can say "OK he needs to work a little at playing spin and seaming deliveries a little more and he'll be back". It's more on the lines of "WTF is this guy doing? How can he be so clueless?"
And we're not even talking about things such as his weight, his injuries etc.

Still unconvinced in test cricket, though undoubtedly he's done brilliantly recently.

Re: Oh dear!
Has this been linked elsewhere (not suggesting Pujara should get Ganger's spot)?
Pujara scores 189 off 182 balls. Yeah Ranji and all that, but...
Linky.

Re: Oh dear!
phurt. gambhir was pretty crap most of the time people were slating him. only turned it around since the start of this year and scored his first test century only 2 tests ago. i'd be interested in seeing him in tests in england, sa and aus. as of now i have absolutely no problems with him in the side

Pujara is phenomenal, but there's no need to rush him in just yet.

Shit he's scoring big runs everywhere. Punjab don't have a totally crap attack either. Destroyed them without 6s. 31 fours in the innings. Impressive.

GG is a brave cricketer who should walk in to the team- he is brilliant.
GG vs Akhtar/Flintoff will be a good battle this winter.

Still very impressive FC average of 52.5, although dunno what this season has done to that average.

2 triple hundreds in under 22 cricket, 1 triple in the Ranji Trophy, snf 180 at better than a run a ball today, showing a whole new dimension to his game.

Still he should be tested in the A tours first. If he does well there, then we can see.

his first two 100s against PAK were on SEAMERS tracks. the rest of the indian batting collapsed. yuvraj was the only batsman to cross 50. and he had a strike of 85 in both those innings.

his third 100 (also against PAK)...he came to the crease at 61-4 and put on exactly 300 with ganguly.

credit where credit due!
as for srikkanths statement, its a no brainer really.
