Re: Australian Politics: Libs Go Crazy
Whichever way it works out we're talking schism. The funny thing is Rudd can use this as a trigger then ignore it post DD and let the Libs firther implode, if there's anything left of them to implode.

Had they opposed it then, (and I'm talking Abbott etc. here) it would have given Turnbull some hope of coming up with an alternative policy. Perhaps it could have been a revenue neutral carbon tax with minor compensation for industry (giving them a policy to reduce carbon emissions that couldn't be classified as a tax grab - you'd think many of the climate change skeptics could have lived with that).
But no, they let Turnbull walk all the way to the edge before staging a revolt when they didn't get their way.
Quite simply it has been a disgraceful act of political treachery and bastardry by the anti-Turnbull forces. The party is now at war with itself and it is all their fault.
aye to all that. Minchin is a snake and Abbott was always going to make a ugly grab at some point.

True, & the sad thing is that everyone will suffer because of it. The country needs a strong opposition to keep the glory seeking, power hungry, control freak little ****** we have as a PM in check before he totally farks the economy & turns everyone into welfare dependant paupers.

Lardy and Big Dog. How the hell is Turnbull "unelectable"?
He's one of the most naturally electable people I've seen.
The problem is he's a first term opposition leader trying to control a dysfunctional party while competing against a very popular prime minister. .
No Liberal leader is electable at the next federal poll. But it's absolutely no contest that Turnbull would be the most electable in the poll after that.

To paraphrase bodyline, the next liberal PM isn't even in parliament yet.

Turnbull is one of the least electable, least inspiring individuals I've ever seen. He turns people off in droves. Australians will never elect a mealy-mouthed, smug, supercilious, superior, millionaire lawyer wanker to the highest office in the land. The sooner the Libs are shot of him the sooner they can find someone who actually is electable - until then, the Liberal opposition cannot be taken seriously as an alternative government.

Aye. He almost single-handedly scuppered the Republic vote, and now he's rooting the Libs.
Looks likely to be Abbot v Turnbull on Tuesday...a dream ticket...for the ALP.

lardy in gross underestimation of evil wealthy lawyres who have hoodwinked the Aiustralian people while in leadership positions -
pig iron bob
garfield barwick
howard
bronny
tis all a tradition of the fatuous ruling class warriors who have never coped with the idea of impotence when they are in opposition

Will Joe Hockey make a good Opposition leader? Can't help but think it might fark up the oen decent pollie in the Libs ranks.
It would be interesting having a leader of the Liberal party who is to the left of the leader of the Labor party.
Turnbull is already left of Rudd on social issues.

There is talk today about Turnbull starting his own party if he gets shafted by the Libs.
He wouldn't even have to give up his seat.

That's the word Skulls. They want power over money. They obviously have something wrong with them. What would you do with a $100,000,000.

Aye qmy. But I suppose if we didn't have this handful of egomaniacs willing to stand for Federal and State seats, we'd have no farkers to run the joint.

Re: Australian Politics: Libs Go Crazy
Can't see how Hockey will be able to take the leadership and not support the ETS and still retain any credibility.
If he's smart (?) he'll sit on the sidelines and let Abbot take it from the electorate next year.
Either way, for the Libs to have consumed the likes of Nelson and Turnbull and then opt for a intellectual pygmy like Hockey speaks volumes about where they are at in the Post Howard world. Farked.
