Re: Ashes Countdown Clock
Out of interest, to our Aussie posters, would you rather KP be playing this summer or not? Or do you not care either way?
I personally don't think it will make much difference but will be interesting to hear an Aussie perspective.

Personally don't care. Think he is a massive liability in the field and in the dressing room but he probably still has the ability to win one match or just maybe two for England off his own bat. I suspect the positives for England are outweighed by the negatives.

I've decided I don't like the countdown. Too depressing.
It's like watching my life drain away. Or watching Alastair Cook batting.

Re: Ashes Countdown Clock
the cricket lover in me wants to see him bat
the fiercely nationalistic nothing-is-better-than-beating-england bit of me wants him just where he is

He'd at least make it very interesting in any manner of ways. I do enjoy seeing him bat at his best which is more than I can say for most others regardless of results.

Re: Ashes Countdown Clock
As per some of the earlier posts - the closer to zero hour it gets the clock becomes less of a thing to raise my excitement levels and begins to serve more and more as a reminder of impending destruction. It's like being in a disaster movie with a countdown clock telling us how long there is until the meteor hits the earth. Only in our movie Bruce Willis's role is played by Ian Bell.

Re: Ashes Countdown Clock
15 days and counting.
My stomach is beginning to tighten.
I'm scouring the sports pages for any and every word - looking for supposed chinks in the armour, any cockiness or arrogance or selection pointers.
When we get to T minus 10 does the clock and background change into more urgent colours - maybe alternating between yellow and red. Kind of similar approach to vilks's Kallis tribute.
And perhaps on T minus 1 a klaxon, the kind of which you'd hear from a German U-boat in a WWII movie, can blare out when you land on the page just to properly heighten the tension.
