Wiki says the first international day/nighter at Bellerive was a T20 between Aus v WI on 21 Feb 2010.

I went to it & the warmup game between the Aust Womens team & the NZ Womens team was far more entertaining.

Mrs Johnsons little boy Mitchell has a sore throat & won't be allowed out to play in Hobart.
Australia's probable lineup:
Australia (probable) 1 Shane Watson, 2 Brad Haddin (wk), 3 Michael Clarke (capt), 4 Cameron White, 5 David Hussey, 6 Shaun Marsh, 7 Steven Smith, 8 Brett Lee, 9 Nathan Hauritz, 10 Doug Bollinger, 11 Shaun Tait.
If England can't beat that pack of no hopers they may as well go home now.

Yep, it's not like Aus are the number 1 ranked side playing at home against a mid ranked side missing its frontline bowling attack...

Haven't you heard? Apparently losing the Ashes has made their one day side drop down the rankings and made our side become better than theirs, despite all the different players.JKLever wrote:Big Dog wrote:

Hmmmmm - sounds like an excuse to me. More likely to be a reaction to this letter she received a few weeks ago from Sydney Police HQ .....
Dear Mrs Johnson
Please can you come to Sydney and collect your son and his friends, as they have been battered by a gang of big smelly English boys here on a sporting holiday.
Were you aware that little Mitchell has been involved for some time with a gang of misfits and ne'er-do-wells masquerading as a cricket team. The gang leader - a fellow called Ponting - is under the illusion that he's some kind of tactical genius. Our investigations reveal that there has been a long-running feud between this gang and the afforementioned smelly Poms.
It seems as the latest outbreak of trouble began in Brisbane in late November. Nothing more than a bit of stone throwing and hitting one another with sticks. The leader Ponting was not impressed with your sons' showing. He, and a couple of others allowed the English boys to take their sticks off them, and worse - when given the opportunity to throw stones, they hit their own gang members more than the English. As a result, Mitchell was sent away. With everyone flagging, it was agreed that battle would re-commence in Adelaide the following week.
In the intervening week, the nasty Poms practiced their stone throwing, and completely overwhelmed Pontings gang. Their sticks were almost useless, and they were sent packing with their tails between their legs. Fortunately, the gang heard a couple of the poms talking of their impending visit to Perth, and got there first. When the Poms arrived in town, Ponting & crew were ready. Mitchell was welcomed back with local knowledge of the terrain & conditions. From the outset, his effectiveness with his stick was astounding, smashing the Poms all over the place. As they were running away in terror, his stone throwing was so accurate, he had eight of them crashing to the ground having been hit.
In the lead-up to Christmas, a few of the gangs groupies in the popular press were getting over-excited at what had happenned, and wanting more of the same. After all, locals have been kicking English tourists for years. What young Ponting couldn't understand however, is that the Pommy ringleaders weren't easily put off. Their leader Flower - grew up and learned his trade in Zimbabwe under a particularly nasty and brutal dictator. His protests against the regime could have cost him his life. Second in command Strauss went to a typical public school where cold showers and floggings were part of the daily curriculum, f a g g i n g for prefects was compulsory, and buggery from the head boy was routine. Another few more of the English gang, (particularly two called Bell and Anderson) have unhappy memories of their last visit to these shores, and were looking to extract revenge.
There were two more major clashes just over a week apart, and both followed the same pattern. An initial attack by head stone-thrower Anderson & new boy Tremlett had Ponting & Co reeling. That was followed up with a brutal beating with sticks from Strauss, Trott, Bell Pieterson and Cook. They then retreated to give the stone throwers another go.
It has been two weeks of complete carnage. Ponting's gang, including Mitchell have been taken into custody for their own protection. They are all severely traumatised, so we'd appreciate it if you could come directly on reciept of this note. May I reccommend you bring a supply of bum cream, soft cushions and rubber rings, as I fear it will be a while before some of the boys will be able to sit on normal chairs.
It is also my duty to inform you that files have been passed to the State prosecutor. He will make the decision as to whether your son, among others, will face charges of improper posession of a baggy green cap and trying to pass as an Australian Cricketer. I look forward to seeing you in the near future.
Yours sincerely
Sydney Police

Or even
Dear Mrs Johnson
Please can you come to Sydney as a matter of urgency and collect your son, who is persistently endangering the lives of the square leg and point fielders on his own team with his fast-medium bowling.
We take this matter seriously. Failure to comply will result in the removal of the offender from the national team and indefinite incarceration.
Yours sincerely

Yes, how will they ever cope with Bresnan, Shahzad, Woakes, Yardy and Tredwell...?
Aus will score 300+.
Eng won't.
Re: Australia v England, 2nd ODI, Hobart, Jan 21, 2011
Weather radar showing rain in Hobart at the moment, and spreading most of the way across Tassie. Forecast is for the rain to stop some time between 2 and 4, unfortch, there are thunderstrms and heavy rain at the tail end.
Probably a delay to start play.

Jimmy who? Anderson? He's at home playing daddy - due back for the final couple of ODIs and the WC.
He and Broad, if fit, will be the new-ball pair.
Come on, you knew that...?

And a leave of absence for the form of Australia's batsmen.
Would they play a hastily-arranged t20 if the Aussie collapse continues and it's all over before the dinner break?

Crabs. Goodish recovery by Bog and ShyT undone by a lazy shot from the Vomit and a p!ssweak shot by horrie's mate.
So basically we can only win a JAMODI if an individual plays his tits off (ala Watto). As a team, we're farked.

Heh. Decided to get up early for this one as opposed to staying up late. Looks like my sleeping has done wonders again for our wicket taking abilities.
