Oh right, I thought it was a constant downward spiral - I've had mates say 31,2 etc. is a bit better, but then it's shite from 35 onwards. I dunno, you have these goals, then you realise they aren't goals you wanted, just expected, I still reckon I've wasted about 15 years of my life on computers. I'm like a f*cking baby basically.

FFS just wrote a post and the forum f**ked it, can't be arsed to write it all again. The gist was that birthdays are sh!t from 24 onwards.

not so sure about the constant downward spiral theory ... I guess there's a plughole there somewhere and it's a fact that we're circling it in ever-diminishing radii, but 30 was totally painless for me, and even 40 was not an issue. The last 5 years have been hard, though.

IMO how we adapt to these milestones probably reflects our fitness at the time, and other life events that are prevailing, much more than any simple chronological model.

Nah, 30 was my worst. 40 and 50 were easy.

Aye, you're probably right, I sort of feel like Slurms McKenzie out of Futurama, a bit of a shell, I just want a 'pleasant' time really - feeling like a husk isn't birthday-specific but it's probably that you're supposed to be elated on your birthday etc. and when you're not, it makes you feel old.
