Good talent, didn't have a great finish to the season though. Started to get bowled through the gate a lot to the nip-backer.
Rob Newton. Haven't really seen much, as I didn't go much, but the old chaps have a heart-attack-inducing wank about him.
Who?
David Griffith, accuracy at 88-90MPH. Nort bayd.
He's no Maurice 'Mo' Chambers.

Injured, BTW. Flo-Mo. ^
Out of the Lions. On his way home. From his, erm, home.

Oh Goody, that'll add to our already unbalanced side.
Though I hear we're close to getting Peter Siddle for the first half of the season

He's not the finished article, but for his age he's nearer than most.

Re: Five English players to watch in 2011
I want Rob Newton and Azeem Rafiq to make it at International level
I've sawn them both off with decisions they whinged about
Rob Newton looked a decent bat (made about 60) and punished anything that even looked short
Rafiq is a very clever cricketer who looks like he could be a very good offie ...didnt let him get too many before I fired him so I cant say much about his batting

No. He's a figment of my imagination. I watch him take a shower.

Hmmm, well cant say i'd even heard the name. Not surprising playing your cricket in such a backwater.

Second grader? I think Danny prefers the more politically correct 'Northants'.

Well you had 'bigger' fish to fry - though having read through some of last season's posts I still see you creating enough time to comment on how well, or not as the case may be, James Taylor was getting on.
Oh well **sighs**

Utter bullsh!t, this season we're going to tear up the... **sighs** what's the point **hangs head** we aren't going to do anything.
Re: Five English players to watch in 2011
Anyway, watch out for Rob Newton, he's like Essex's Owais Shah only less imported and less ancient.
Re: Five English players to watch in 2011
A bit left-field, but I'll nominate Alex Kervezee. I know he's done sh*t all in the WC, but he is a genuine talent and he qualifies for England sometime this year.

Re: Five English players to watch in 2011
Hmmm some interesting choices there. Anyhow below is the list of five players that I feel would be worth watching this summer:
1) Dan Briggs- He came out of nowhere last season and cemented his place in Hants side by close of the season.Fast tracked into the Lions side and is currently setting the world alight in West Indies. Expect him to continue in the same vain this summer and upstage Abdul Rashid as England's next young spinner in waiting.
2) Nathan Buck- Again like Briggs he came out of nowhere to establish himself as an integral part of Leics' seam attack. Fast tracked into Lions setup and seems to have acquitted himself well so far. Another good season should see him move further up the. Pecking order. The selectors rate him too, apparently.
3) Andy Carter- Andy who, you may ask.He is an upcoming fast bowler from Notts.Played a handful of games for Essex on loan last season.Bowled one terrifying spell against Kent where he claimed a five wicket haul and apparently had established players like Van Jaarsveld running for cover.Has been touring the Windies with Lions as a replacement bowler and has done well so far. Expect him to become a regular in Notts side this summer.
4) Jason Roy- Those who saw him rip Kent's bowling attack to shreds while on a way to a rare T20 hundred last season would never forget it for many years to come.He is one of the hardests hitters of the ball and has an instiable appetite for runs.A product of Whitgift school, he is rated highly by the Brown Hats.Expect him to dominate a few county attacks this summer. A good season could land a berth in EPP squad.
5) Rory Hamilton Brown- Yea he has been around for a few seasons now but last summer was the first time he had played the entire length of the season and pretty much every game that his side played in. Leading a struggling Surrey side can demoralise many but not this young lad who has shown a lot of steel.A good season with bat and as captain should nudge him closer to England set up. Highly rated by Chris Adams and Graham Thorpe

I tipped Roy and RHBcap. So if they do come off, I get bragging rights first.
That's just the rules, new guy.
Re: Five English players to watch in 2011
Can't believe so many picking RHB. Looked like a bit of a hack by numbers batsman whenever i've seen him. His bowling has hit me written all over it too...

I was having a blank and just settled on Surrey players. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Unless I'm bang on the money, then I'll lord it over you all like a dick.

He's got something about him. He's been rated since the Bunbury festival. Needs a big season to be in the frame, though.

Aye, too true. Those specs don't help either. Supercillious grin. Ideas above his station. I might set off drive a car into him now.
