Rudolph recalled for oz tests, Philander picked
Parnell and McLaren dropped from last test squad. Prince gets the nod ahead of Duminy but some of these will feature in the 'A' team to play Australia in a warm-up match.

Interesting to restore Ashwell Prince at this stage. I thought he was considered "gone".
btw: Nice pic, Red. She just needs a bit of green to be fully patriotic.

Surprised they didn't go the whole way and recall Boeta Dippenaar...
Rudolph's not actually as old as I thought he was but seems like a backward step in view of his mediocre, even with some major Bangladesh inflation, Test stats.

Agree, though his weight of runs said pick me ahead of Petersen whose test stats aren't stellar either. Guys like Hayden, Martyn, Langer et al have done well in the second incarnation. Noticed that the unusually named Jon-Jon Smuts, a youngster made a ton overnight as an opener.
There's some suggestion that Australia will play four quicks in the tests despite taking Beer and Lyon over there.

Four quicks plus Watson? Not enough variety, imo.

The only selection issue for South Africa is likely to be Tahir or Harris. Philander wont play unless there is an injury.

Last tour where only had pace, including McDonald for the first two tests and it was a winning formula. In the last test we all know what happened when McGain came into the mix.

One would hope that Prince gets the nod over Duminy, but I can find no evidence to suggest that this has been decided on.

Interesting, is there still any Saffies that doesn't believe Harris is utter sh!t house?

Taips reckons he's top bananas. Roebuck loves him and he's a SA/Aus wannabe.

I don't think anyone claimed that Harris was the world's best, but he did a better job for SA than Giles did for England.

'kin 'ell taips, Roger Patterson did a better job for SA than Giles did for England...
Re: Rudolph recalled for oz tests, Philander picked
Yeah I know. Its just that Harris was bit better than he is usually given credit for. He would have walked into recent Aussie teams.

Yeah, he's not the worst ever. Pretty useful sometimes, but can be quite innocuous. Whereas Tahir looks the biz.
Re: Rudolph recalled for oz tests, Philander picked
It's a no brainer. Tahir has to play.

Yeah but that's not exactly saying much though is it. If Harris is the best of a bad bunch the rest must be Gilo-esque

he might well have walked in (he wouldn't have had to do much right to get in), but he wouldn't have lasted (he wouldn't have had to do anything wrong to be flicked)
