Rudolph to England? Empty Rudolph to England?

Post by DJ_Smerk Sun 28 Oct 2007, 11:58

We could have another ex-saffie playing for us in the 2009 Ashes or the 2010 one in Australia. Hmmm.

Depends when he becomes "English".

It seems the quota system is to blame. And he's probably their best bat after Kallis so that's a coup for England.

Best bat after Kallis?! No. Probably their best bat after Kallis, Gibbs, Smith, De Villiers, Prince, Boucher, Amla, Kemp, Duminy, and Pollock.

Amla better than Rudolph? You've surely got to be kidding!!! Ditto Kemp, Duminy and Gibbs. AB and Smith might be on par with him. Problem is Rudolph hasn't been afforded the chances some of these blokes have. Prince is a crab as well.

Rudolph was given a lot of chances. Take away his average of 300 against Bangladesh and he's averaging about 25 in test cricket. He's no less of a crab than Prince, as well.

I think he's a decent player, but he tends to lose his confidence quicker than Britney Spears loses her underpants.

Don't know about Duminy, but Kemp and Gibbs are better than him.

Like a lot of the South African batsmen, he tends to blaze away in domestic cricket but bat like a snail on sleeping pills in test matches. A good comparison could be made between Rudolph and Australia's Simon Katich.

Is the only reason why England have never picked a player who has already represented another country because there has never been a truly world class player who has jumped ship to join them? Say for example Jacques Kallis had decided to jump ship and play for England. Would we be so quick to say that he will "never play for us"?

Totally won't ever be picked.

Furthermore, he's sh!t enough for there to be a lot of batsmen in front of him.

You mean KP? Yeah, he's heaps shit....

Martin McCague, i'll give you. Same with Jason Gallian. Craig White would have been in the mix if he'd stayed in Aus. Allan Mullally was a good bowler who would have at least represented Victoria on a consistent basis.

Mullally left Aus when he was 20. Hard to say that he wouldnt have got near the Aussie side. Especially when his record for England was pretty good.

Mullally had already left WA ...because he was behind Alderman , Capes , Macleay , Matthews and Reid ...

At Victoria he was behind Hughes , Reifel , Dodemaide O'Donnell and Fleming ...

He was struggling to play FC cricket in Australia ...regardless of what he achieved for England
