Best song of 2007
Caught the end of XFM's top 100 songs of 2007, winner: Arctic Monkeys' Fluorescent Adolescent -
Good song, wouldn't be my favourite, not sure which is.

Re: Best song of 2007
Arctic Monkeys are crap.
Best song of 2007 is either:
Queens of the Stone Age - 3's & 7's
Editors: Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors
or Arcade Fire - No Cars Go

I'm really struggling here. I thought 2007 was a terrible year for music.

Re: Best song of 2007
I can only remember buying one album in the whole of last year. Neon Bible - Arcade Fire. Good, but not as good as Funeral.
Did the Flaming Lips release At War With... last year, or was it 2006?
Bored of music.

Of 2007 albums I bought these three:
PJ Harvey - White Chalk - which I like a lot
Go! Team - Proof of Youth - which I like despite terrible production
Bruce Hornsby - Camp Meeting - instrumental jazz
Else I'm more interested in buying pop music from the sixties.

Didn't buy any. Got Prince's free twice, once at the concert and once with a Sunday newspaper. The album's poor - only one good song.

Re: Best song of 2007
The final tally won't be known until Australia Day (26/1/2008), but the Triple J hottest 100 is perhaps the largest public music polls in the world...
So far I've voted for:
Radiohead - 15 Step
Radiohead - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
Shins, The - Sealegs
Kings Of Leon - Fans
Interpol - Pioneer To The Falls
Spoon - Don't Make Me A Target

It's deliberate though, the scuzzy production on the Go! Team records. It's part of their 'thing'.
Shame, as, if you check out some of their youtube clips, they can totally rock out live, but songs such as Huddle Formation are weedy and under-powered on CD.
Re: Best song of 2007
I think Arcade fire's neon bible was the only album I bought last year- tv antichrist whatjamacallit is by far the best track.

I saw them at Glastonbury on telly and agree that they have tons of energy and look really happy. I think they would shift more units if their production sounded better than a 1983-model four-track in the bassist's bedroom, though.
