Re: I see Mynah is here
Great, except for when we almost ended up in jail, as I just mentioned in another thread.

Re: I see Mynah is here
I have to start by saying that I can't figure out the Lao people. We probably got the biggest ripoff merchant per capita count on any visit to any country ever - and yet we also had waiters running after us in the streets telling us we paid too much when we only tried to tip them, and people selling us wares at prices so low we felt guilty to buy. I read in the Lao Airlines inflight magazine one of the local hill tribes lived in fear of the splendidly named hrooy poop, an evil spirit that possessed you and turned you into a real ar$ehole, figuratively speaking. I suspect the receptionist at the place where we were staying had a hrooy poop.
After he and other hotel staff had tried to cheat us on every possible transaction, they lost my sister's laundry, then accused us, more or less, of lying about it. Next thing they threatened to call the police and prevent us from leaving the country, or worse. We thought it best to back down - especially as we were relying on the hotel owner's brother to get us to the airport the next morning...

You've never been to India, clearly.

No - what should I worry about if I do go? (To be honest, you're not as likely to be ripped off here as having your handbag/wallet/cellphone/life ripped off you).HH_pink wrote:You've never been to India, clearly.
