Re: WC 2015
Sadly, they have decided to stick with quarter-finals.
This tournament is going to go for 44 days, meaning we're going to spend over a month to work out whether Bangladesh can sneak into the quarter-finals at the expense of Sri Lanka or New Zealand.
I'm looking forward to having the World Cup down under, but I have a feeling it's going to be extremely tedious for the most part.

Re: WC 2015
currently pool B looks much stronger than pool A
aus and nz should do well in home conditions though
dammit. the ind-pak match is on the 2nd day of the tournament. so to watch that plus the knock-outs i would have to spend a month there

And speaking of big-fish small-pond entitlement and hot air, has there been any AFL reaction yet? The Big A won't like losing the last two weeks of March - so it's either a shorter season or move the Caulfield Cup to make room for the GF.

Re: WC 2015
Yeah, they're scared of a format that risks eliminating big sides early at the expense of minnows, after 2003 and 2007. So we get the month of JAMODIs before the almost inevitable last eight line-up.
Decent draw for England, but we'll play a top four of blockers on pitches where you need 300+ so it probably doesn't really make any difference!

Wonder what crowd they will get at the MCG without Australia in the final?

They got close enough to 100k for the final in 1992.

Well I've never been so insulted in my life. Only an Aussie passport can make up for it now. I can angle my wrist and pretend to bowl spin that should do it.
