Wasnt the Adelaide oval expansion completed just last year? Would skew the attendance statsFred Nerk wrote:About an hour before the end the 774 boys said the match crowd was the best for the venue for a Test not involving England.

Yeah, so would I. But to be perfectly honest, this is probably going to be the best chance of awin in this series for us. Certainly not expecting India to win or draw the series.taipan wrote:tricycle wrote:True, but ignoring the innings apart from the last session is the equivalent of saying South Africa choked in their chase against India.taipan wrote:Eight wickets in one session is crap whichever way you spin it.
India remain poor, but this was a rather good effort at a chase.
Maybe I am old school. I prefer to make a test safe rather than chuck away a loss.

This point is often brought up, but the last time an India Australia series wasn't completely predictable and rather dull was 07/08, although the ridiculous 2 match series had a very good match. These days India away from home are shit and Australia in the subcontinent are not much better than Bangladesh.Red wrote:At least India have put up more of a fight here than they generally did last tour.

25,000 on day 5 is disappointing? Don't be fooled by the Aussie concrete jungles (which sadly Adelaide has just about become)

It was an excellent test, although I think it's a shame that David Warner can't help but act like a complete qunt in almost every match he takes part in. I know he's not the only one from either side, but he's nearly ALWAYS mouthing off at a batsman after he's dismissed. His team are celebrating in a huddle and Warner is pulling away, mouthing off at the batsman as he walks past. Why? Why can't he just enjoy the moment with his team instead of constantly releasing a seemingly endless stream of anger inside of him? He must be a pretty insecure character. Did he have a difficult childhood?

He's a westy bogan, albeit a westy bogan that can bat.

Good point, Trev. I was part of the 28,000 on day 4 and there was plenty of atmosphere. That would've nearly been a sell out for the old Adelaide Oval.Henry wrote:Red wrote:Very disappointing crowd. Has Adelaide fallen out of love with test cricket?

Can forgive him a bit of quntitude on this particular occasion, I think, though he does go over the top on occasions... great to see the way he came out and played on the first day after everything that had happened, that was what I hoped and half expected, only disappointment was that he didn't go on and challenge the fastest century record.
Anyway, great game of Test cricket and the right result along with seemingly a positive approach from the Indian team as well. Let's hope the rest of the series follows in the same way.

Unbelievable result with 8-73 falling in one session after only two wickets fell in the previous two sessions. Thanks horrie and JGK for the text updates whilst I was unable to view!

So, last Summer in England was not an aberration - India really can't play spin properly.

Disagree with some of their diagnosis. Lax attitude can explain Moeen, but not the others.
And forgot to add, bloody Kohli and his stupid selections. Weakened the batting and bowling in one selection.

Does Kohli select the side? I'd imagine Shastri has the biggest say. Karn ahead of Ashwin was in hindsight a massive error.
I suspect they'll pick Jadeja for Brisbane.

Seeing as he's admitted that Karn Sharma was his decision, he'd have had a say at the bare minimum. Jadeja would be similar to Sharma. From what's been seen in test level (and domestic in Sharma's case), not selecting Ashwin for either of these two would weaken both batting and bowling.

It's a mistake every time India drop Ashwin

Not only is he their best spinner - he's made two Test centuries as well.
He'll probably get a gig at Brisbane.
